Southcote Performance Horses is a horse breeding facility nestled amongst the orchards and vines of sunny Tasman, on a picturesque New Zealand lifestyle block. They currently have a herd of 20 top quality, proven mares from fantastic bloodlines. These mares are being bred to world-leading genetics through both New Zealand’s top stallions and imported semen from international super sires, such as Diament de Semilly, Clinton I, ES Diamante B, Kinnordy Gym Bello, Cornets Air. The result is stunning youngstock with athleticism, scope, movement, temperament, oozing potential for top-level competition across the disciplines. Our progeny are all available for purchase.
Owned and operated by Dawn Howard, Southcote Performance Horses began with Dawn’s search to find herself the ‘perfect’ horse. A chartered accountant by trade, Dawn emigrated from the UK to New Zealand in 2016 with her favourite horse Sammy in tow. On arrival she struggled to find another horse of his quality so decided to try breed her own and there her love of breeding was realized. Dawn has now made it her mission to bred Elite Dressage Horses and High-Performance Show Jumpers, which have the trainability and nature to match their athleticism and talent.
An exciting service on offer at Southcote Performance Horses is ‘designer foals’. An innovated concept that is relatively new to New Zealand and unique to our stud, but is becoming common practice with industry leaders overseas. This service allows you to pick from our top quality, proven range of broodmares (or provide your own) AND then pick from our range of available stallions, from both New Zealand and/or imported semen, to create your dream foal. We will take care of all of the hard work, inseminating the mare, scanning, grazing, foaling down and then expertly raising until weaning time when your gorgeous foal will be ready to go home. This is a fantastic opportunity for those who want to breed their own superstar but don’t have the facilities, the expertise, or the time.
