Thanks to everyone who was understanding of all our rule changes today, we really appreciate your patience.
Happy weekend!
Brrrrr its cold outside!
Does this look like your cat?
Arthritis becomes much more noticeable over winter, for us and our animals. Many of these animals are suffering in silence and just put up with their day-to-day pain.
Metacam is a commonly used anti-inflammatory in cats and dogs. At Vetora Taupo we are offering a small number of free trials of this medication to cats and dogs that are suffering from the effects of arthritic pain.
This is a great opportunity to see what an amazing difference this medication can make. Conditions apply - please give us a call on 073765106 for more information.
This guy is still wriggling after being torn from his home in a hair follicle this morning.
He is a demodex mite. All normal dogs have a few of these suckers on their skin, and they generally don’t cause an issue. However, mange can occur when a dog has an immature or strained immune system which allows the mites to rapidly multiply.
These guys are not contagious to other dogs or people and generally cause patchy hair loss that isn’t itchy.
They can be seen under the microscope like this guy after a simple skin scrape. Treatment is easy with prescribed or over-the-counter medications available at your vets 🐶
This is Tripod, our three legged feline friend who has been feeling a little dizzy this weekend.
He came to the clinic in a bit of a state on Sunday - looking like this, while also not being able to walk (made especially hard with only having three legs).
This eye movement is called nystagmus and occurs as a result of disruption to the vestibular or balance system. This can either be a brain problem or an inner ear issue.
Poor Tripod had a ruptured ear drum with a lot of swelling and fluid. But don’t worry, come Monday morning he went home feeling much better (and no more nystagmus). We will check how his ear is in another 10 days when he has finished his medication.
Sara has done an amazing job fostering these NINE pups for CARE NZ , and they will be looking for homes soon! Today they had their first vaccinations and check-ups.
This cute girl Bella stayed with us today at the clinic. Utterly exhausting having to cuddle everyone.
Three siblings visited this week for their second vaccinations. It was so entertaining to watch these big fluff-balls playing with each other.
It's Bob!!!
Eeeeeeep isn't he cuuuute!
Today we had the wonderful Oreo in for an ultrasound scan of her abdomen. What you can see in the short video is a couple of pups - the first few seconds you can see a wee beating heart. ❤️
Fabian
Look who it is!!!
The wonderful Fabian is out for a walk, with a new lease on life after recovering extremely well from his big surgery several weeks ago. His waistline is slim once again after removing a tumour which comprised 20% of his body weight. Happiness all round!
