Lovely Simba's owner weren't able to care for him so he has been picked up by the Taupo SPCA and is available for adoption! Please consider giving this beautiful, mature gentleman a home - he's an absolute charmer.

Can you help me find my way home?
Simba is microchipped but we can't contact his owners, can anyone help him find his way home? He's currently chilling with us and scoffing some delicious kitten food!

She's microchipped but unfortunately not registered to the council or on the NZ New Zealand Companion Animal Register.

For $30 you can get your male or female cat desexed, microchipped and registered on the NZ New Zealand Companion Animal Register - making it much easier for them to find their way home to you.

We've had a young female cat brought into us for an injury. She's under a year and has been desexed but not chipped, we're hoping someone knows who loves her! She's very sweet and purrs constantly.

Deceased Adult neutered male cat found Rawhiti street Taupo.
He is a large male striped tabby with a white spot under his chin on chest area and is not microchipped. Possibly could have been hit by a car. Please contact our clinic on 07 376 5106 if you may know the possible owner of the cat.

Poor young Obi learned the hard way that not everything that smells good is a good snack.

Lucky for him, his vigilant mum caught him in the act of chewing down a block (or three) of rat bait. If she hadn’t, things may not have gone so well in a few days.

Rat bait is typically an anti-coagulant that causes severe blood loss and death ☠️. These effects take 72 hours to show up on blood tests, and a little longer to show clinical signs of blood loss. It’s easy to get complacent over this time thinking they are ok.

Getting these patients in immediately after ingestion to make them vomit is the best remedy. However, if that’s not possible, luckily there is an antidote available, but needs to be given every day for several weeks to be effective. Best to get it out ASAP!
