Introducing the gorgeous Broccoli! 🐾🥦

Broccoli is a sweet wee girl who loves her treats. She has a lovely nature and is great with all other dogs. She hasn’t been tested with cats, but she’s young, so she will just need a nice, calm introduction. Broccoli would suit a fully-fenced section and a loving family.

Age: puppy - 3-4 months
Breed: Possibly Collie / Whippet X

🚨 Important Reminder for Dog Owners 🚨

We've noticed a growing number of impounded dogs with microchips, but unfortunately, their owners' contact details aren't on file. Here's what you need to know:

📋 We check the TCC council records (from the National Dog Database - NDD) and the NZCAR (New Zealand Companion Animal Register) records that Vets and SPCA use.

✅ It's crucial to keep your pet's contact details updated to help them get home quickly!
It's your responsibility as the dog owner to ensure that your information is current with us when you:
🏡 Move to a new address
📱 Change your phone number
📧 Get a new email

Make sure to update both your council records (which will update NZDD too) AND the NZCAR.

🐾 Need to check if your microchip is still working?
Take your pet to a vet or local council for a free scan! If your microchip is faulty or missing, we can replace it for just $32 at the TCC Dog Pound (by appointment).

🔍 Remember:

Council can check both NDD and NZCAR records.
Vets can only check NZCAR.

Community celebrations across the city will be happening today, starting from 6pm. Some of these celebrations involve fireworks, so make sure you and your pets are prepared for the evening.

Community fireworks will light up our skies at 9.30pm and again at midnight around areas of Tauranga.

🐾 Keep your pets (small or large) safe and secure for the night
🐾 Make sure your pets are microchipped, as this can help your pet to be safely returned to you

As celebrations start to take place around the community as we get ready to welcome in the new year, fireworks could be lighting up the sky at night, so we recommend keeping an eye on your pets as the loud noises and bright light flashes can be frightening and cause distress for many animals.

What do my fees go towards? - It's a popular question that we get asked all the time. And it's a fair question. What do your dog registration fees go towards? Dog registrations in Tauranga are only 10% rates funded. Therefore, all of the money from the registration fees goes back to the Animal Services team to help make Tauranga a safer, dog-friendly city. Dog registration fees help 👇 🐾 Delivery of owner education and safety programmes in schools and local businesses and at local events. 🐾 Dog shelter facilities for the care, welfare and return of lost and stray dogs. 🐾 Rehoming/adopting dogs that come into our care. 🐾 Investigating complaints about barking, roaming or aggressive dogs. 🐾 Installation and maintenance of poo bag dispensers. 🐾 Maintaining the dog registration database for more than 16,000 dogs. 🐾 Monitoring leash control and dog-prohibited areas.

Are you ready for Bark in the Park 2024? While the event is just DAYS away, we thought we'd look back on the very first event back in 2022! This year we have grown the event to include doggy market stall holders who will be selling items from doggy treats, bowls, coats and more! 🐾 Bark in the Park ⏰ 10am - 2pm, Saturday 24 February 2024. 📍 Jordan Field (Memorial Park, near the Rowing Club).
