Gus is a farm cat. He is shy and wary of new things and situations at first. He has lived on an organic orchard for most of his life and has never seen a road. He shared 12 years with another cat so is used to cat company. He has always had a dog companion. When we had ducks he never tried to catch them but was useful at herding them into the pen at night, he ignores chickens, but he is a very good rat catcher.
He is not used to small children.
He likes going for walks and will follow me around the property.
He likes a good lap and the end of a bed. His current favourite toy is a small knitted catnip mouse.
Any fun facts etc: Gus is vocal and likes to tell you about his day! He is in good health. He has just had seven teeth removed and the remaining ones are very healthy.

We are so blessed to know this highly motivated young fella who gives our animals (and his own) so much love and attention. I wish there were more humans in the world like you, Prod! Keep doing you, never change!! You’re going to big places with your positive attitude and lust for life.

❗️Microchips❗️

Did you know? Your pet’s vet will implant a microchip into your pet but it is YOUR job to register the microchip with the online pet registry. 💻
👉🏽Your vet clinic will not do this for you.

The chip is completely useless if it is not registered. Your pet cannot be reunited with you by scanning its chip - if it is unregistered.
Sadly, this is not common knowledge amongst pet owners. 😭

Every week, I am contacted about missing pets. More often than not, they have a microchip 🥳 however it is UNREGISTERED. 😩
So from my end, I have a lost (often distressed!) animal in my care that has a microchip number that has no owner details connected to it. Therefore, reuniting them with their families in a timely manner is difficult. Without the power of social media, some of these pets would not be reunited at all, as many are unregistered with Council.

‼️Council registration is completely separate from NZCAR microchip registration.
Please don’t get these mixed up.

So, how do you go about registering a microchip?
It’s dead easy. 😁
Jump on https://www.animalregister.co.nz
You will be asked to enter your pet’s microchip number - you can find this in your pet’s vaccination book or your vet will have it on file.
You can then create an online account where you can add in all necessary contact details.

If you’re not sure/can’t remember if you’ve done this, pop the number in and you will be told whether the chip is registered or not.
I urge everyone to do this check. It takes a matter of seconds and could prevent a lot of heartache. ❤️‍🩹
Also another important note: check that the pet is registered to YOU not a previous owner OR rescue group where the animal may have been adopted from.

Also, if a lost pet ends up in your care, get them straight to a vet clinic to be scanned for a microchip or bring them to me.
Together we can ensure our lost community babies are home sooner rather than later. ❤️

I’m Mama Layla and I’m looking for a very peaceful furever home. 🏠

I am desexed, vaccinated, microchipped, flea & worm treated and have been given the all clear from the vet to go to my new home. ✅
Livvy estimates that I am only about a year old.

I was rescued from Parkvale with my three babies. They are building confidence in their foster home and will soon go off to their furever homes. I am living with Livvy until my pawfect family is found. 🐾
I am such a good mama and now Livvy says it’s my turn to have my happy ever after.
I am still really scared of humans so I won’t be a cuddly pet! I would like to go to a very quiet and peaceful home where there is company if I want it, yummy food and a cozy bed. Livvy thinks I’d make a great “mouser” as I used to live on the streets and catch my own kai. If you have a need for a kitty to keep your mouse population down, then I am your gal! 🥰
I still hiss, I’m not sure about pats and I’m jumpy so my future person needs to know this about me. I won’t like you to start with. But with time we will get used to each other. Through no fault of my own, humans scare me due to something that must’ve happened in my past. But I am willing to forget and forgive. I’m a sweet, shy girl who just wants to be given a chance.

Pupdate: Patches has gone into long term foster care. Her family are going to fly her over to Oz once they purchase a home. 🏠

Patches is a gorgeous Mastiff x Staffy.
She loves humans, loves her blue blanket, loves her one and only yellow chew toy and loves the sun.🌞 She’s just a total love bug! 🐞
She gets along well with other dogs, unsure of cats 🤷‍♀️ but definitely obsesses over her humans.
She’s playful, enjoys short drives and cannot wait to go for daily walks.

She needs to go to a home where there are people at home to give her the attention she needs as she's super affectionate. In saying that, she's more than okay to be by herself but she misses her humans if they’re out too long! 👨‍👩‍👧

Who remembers smiley Buffy?! 😁
She was advertised for rehoming last week. This week she is preparing for her journey to her furever home on Saturday!! She was off to the vet yesterday to get up to date with her vaccinations. Come Saturday, she’ll be on the pet bus en route to Dunedin to reach her new whānau.
Couldn’t be more thrilled for this wee kurī.
The photos say it all. Excited is an understatement!! 🎉
Thank you to the amazing Lily Jean who has organised her vaccines and travel. It takes a mighty awesome village! ⭐️

Kia ora, I’m Rosey and I’m a cool kurī looking for my furever home. I need somewhere where I cannot escape as I’m really good at that!! 😈

Temperament/behaviour: big softy but does bark a lot especially if someone comes onto the property. Will need training on recall if off leash.
Important things to note: She is not good with cats/other dogs. Would prefer her to be the only pet somewhere where she cannot escape as she is an escape artist!
Good with dogs/cats/kids/farm animals: Not good with cats or other dogs as stated above. Great with kids and has been raised with them.
Fun facts:
She loves water, especially the hose, she loves playing with her tug toys and loves a cuddle.
Reason for rehoming: Constant escaping and owner’s financial struggles.

Pupdate: thank you for your interest in and support for Buffy! 😍 She has a pending adoption already! She will be travelling on the pet bus down to Dunedin to spend her days with 4 kids and pawrents who can take her to work. She will always have company. 🥰

Desexed: No, but adopter will need to sign an agreement to have her desexed within the next 6 months.

Up to date with vaccinations: No
Flea and worm treated: Yes
Had any training: Yes, very basic.
Temperament/behaviour: Very gentle and loving with all people. She spins in circles a lot when anxious or bored/lacking attention. She will need a human who is home more often than not.
Important things to note: Will eat cardboard/paper if left unattended but never destructive of any furniture.
Good with dogs/cats/kids: Great with kids and cats. Very reactive to other dogs. Needs to be the only dog in the house. Great at walking on a lead but cannot be let off at this stage as she has poor recall.
Fun facts: Buffy gives the best cuddles! She will be your best friend when one on one. She is super gentle with kids and cats.
Reason for rehoming: Separation, new home that won’t allow dogs and financial challenges.
