Fun fact for the day 🧙
Did you know that horses breathe about 10 times a minute at rest? But once they hit the gallop, they can take up to 140 breaths per minute! That's a whopping 15 litres of air with each breath!
These horses are incredible aren’t they 🐴💨
We headed to Matamata trials yesterday with a few horses..
With all horses trialling particularly well with Kelly Myers on board, who was your favourite heading forward to raceday?
Strolling into Wednesday, our lovely relaxed 2 year olds heading out to the track. These are our fillies by Written Tycoon, Puccini and Time Test.
Sonofabutcher looking a picture at 8 years old, he’s very bright and well showing all the right signs of wanting to be a racehorse!
Thinks he looks cool with his haylage in his fringe, apparently it’s a new trend around the stables.
We say goodbye to a successful 2024 and we cannot wait for 2025 to begin.
We end 2024 with a training milestone of 400 winners, we round off the year with 13 winners with a strike rate of 4 from our small stable.
I would like to thank everyone involved with Lock Racing we couldn’t have done it without you all. To my wonderful clients and staff, we’ve had a great season, we have some quality horses in the stable and the best is yet to come - Bring it on 🙏🏼
The countdown to 500 is on 🙌🏼
Happy New Year to you all and be safe 👋🏼

Race 6 Grangewilliam Stud 1600
5th Sonofabutcher (Chris Dell)
Huge effort to come from well back first up over the 1600m. He will improve immensely with the outing, but very encouraging run by the 8yo who is on a path towards a jumping campaign.

Excellent first start by this little galloper. Was super out of the gates, he was a little green up the straight but fought back very well. He will definitely win some races this little guy.
Keep your eyes peeled for some exciting news coming in 2025 for Lock Racing.
More updates to follow in the next few weeks.

Smart win by this tough little mare, so well deserved to see her pick up a win back in NZ, aided by a super ride by Kate she just sat back and got her to relax and find the line in an impressive time. She will win plenty more races.
Congratulations to her wonderful ownership group, so thrilled to be able to get her back happy and winning,
