SOLD to an awesome racing/breeding home. One of my clients is downsizing his breeding operation and therefore Misty is up for sale. She is scanned infoal to Shocking and due early around 31st August. She is a lovely mare, easy to have on the farm, 16hh (or a cm under) moves nice. She has a decent pedigree page with 2nd and 3rd dams leaving black type.. she will go on gavel house but I thought I would try and find her a home first. Priced at one thousand dollars (the service fee to Shocking is 10K) so this is a bargain...

Spring is here and I'm going to give you a money saving, grass growing, w**d control recipe! I use UPTAKE FOLIAR fertilizer AND in the liquid fert I put tordon pasture boss BUT this is the thing... 20litres fert and 500mls Tordon per hectare..(normally your use 2litres of tordon per ha) so this is a huge saving as the fert increases the uptake of the w**d killer in the plant... one application spring n autumn....the UPTAKE fert is amazing... been using it for 6yrs now...my soil tests and foliage tests are excellent with no recommendations... no dock and I hammer my property pretty hard with horses... Graham arrives with water on board, we add the UPTAKE and tordon pasture boss and he drives around spraying, he is happy to come for 2ha then when I'm ready he does the rest.. this truly is a winning combination for horse properties.... and I thought ya all should know! First day of gradual weaning process, mum goes out for breakfast and they spend less than an hr apart, then gradually lengthening the time each day depending on how they go... I've been weaning this way for 5yrs more and it's such a calm way to do it. I recently attended the International Society for Equitation Science conference held here in NZ and the research proves the foals are better adjusted and less fearful when weaned like this...

Weaning time! We do a gradual weaning system.. foals have breakfast and dinner separated from mums, each day we lengthen the time they are away from mum... this is day 1.. it's a calm, settled approach to weaning... by the time they are fully weaned these babies will be 7 months old.

We are all OK on the farm here post CycloneGabrielle, just one 3yr old that went over a fence (my own filly) who luckily only has superficial cuts (really incredible considering the demolished fence) but our thoughts are with friends and the wider horse community who are dealing with the aftermath and in particular owners trying to find horses and ponies that are missing 😢

We renovated the old weaning boxes from 3x3m to 4x4.2m stables.. I'm so pleased with how they turned out.. thanks to Duncan Equine NZ for gates and automatic water troughs and Cameron transport for the truck load of sawdust to fill them...

Little bit emotional this Telperion c**t born this morning. His mum is Betty, race name Beyond the fort.. bred, owned and raced by Ray Stevens who sadly passed away 3.5yrs ago 🥲. Ray was one of my clients with a number of broodmares with me, we would chat about anything and everything while I was on foal watch, setting the worlds wrongs to right... it's been a quiet few seasons without his banter... and especially missed him this season while waiting for Betty to foal... Rays daughter has kept his dream and horse passion alive, full credit to her through some tough times...
