WEDNESDAY RACE PREVIEW - TE AROHA

We are heading to Racing Te Aroha today with just 1x runner on the truck.

Race 5 - MDN 2200m
ASTARTE (barrier 8, Sam Spratt)
This will be her first time up over ground. It is a bit of a jump up from the 1600m at her previous start, but she is a mare that we believe will appreciate the extra distance. Looking for her to get an economical trip early so she can hit the line strong.

SUNDAY RACE PREVIEW - WOODVILLE

We have 3x stable runners that have made their way South to race at Woodville today.

Race 1 - MDN 1200m.
GIOIA MAGICA (Craig Grylls, barrier 2)
Lightly tried maidener having just her 3rd start. Will appreciate the softer track conditions and has plenty of gate speed that should see her take up a handy position in this small field. She's still learning her job, but has enough ability.

Race 4 - MDN 1400m.
CHUCKLES DAUGHTER (Liam Kauri, barrier 2)
Second up off a very solid run at Ellerslie recently. Should find this level of company easier and will benefit from the 3kg claim of Liam Kauri.

Race 6 - R65 1600m
TROUVAILLE (Liam Kauri, barrier 1)

A talented horse who has also come off a big run fresh up. Drop in class and a 3kg claim will also suit. Has won on a similar track last prep.

Angland is another horse who had success during the Melbourne Cup Carnival at Flemington that we had involvement with at the very start of his career! 🤩💥

Angland was sent to us by his Owner/Breeder, Graeme Northcott, from Central Hawkes Bay. He had his first (and only) trial in November 2023 for us, where he was beaten by a neck. The run was impressive enough to see him sold to the stables of Price/Kent in Australia.

He has now had 4x wins from 7x starts which included last Saturday's A$150,000 Ronald McDonald House Charities Mile (1600m).

Graeme retained a share in the horse so is getting to enjoy his racing success in Australia!

We currently have Angland's 2YO full sister in training with us 👀👀

We were thrilled to watch Gringotts take out the A$3m Big Dance (1600m) at Randwick on Tuesday 🤩🤩

We purchased Gringotts for $100,000 out of Book 1 at Karaka in 2021, developed him and then sold him after one trial win at Waipa in September 2022.

He is now part of the Ciaron Maher stable and has banked A$2.48 million.

SATURDAY RACING PREVIEW - ELLERSLIE

Just two runners at Ellerslie today, both are resuming for the new season and we are expecting solid performances. Bearing in mind they will both get improvement from their outings today.

RACE 4 - MDN 1200m
CHUCKLES DAUGHTER
An older mare that has always shown plenty of ability but has had her fair share of physical issues. She is fresh up after a smart trial and has trained on super for this run today. She should enjoy the good surface and is ready for a nice performance.

RACE 9 - R65 1400m
TROUVAILLE (pictured)
Also fresh up in a new campaign. Went out on a win last season and kicks off at the 1400m which may be a bit short of his best. He has been waiting for better tracks and will get a lot of natural improvement from today. A genuine horse that puts in an honest effort.

She’s our only runner this weekend who is a super consistent mare. She’s knocking on the door to break her Maiden status. Track conditions should suit her. She’s up to the 1600m with Kelly Myers on board. We’re hoping she gets an uninterrupted run from barrier 4 to make today her day!

Returns to racing after an unlucky run last start. Wider draw should actually suit and expect her to find the line late with in form jockey Sam Spratt aboard.

Race 6 - MDN 1200m
GIOIA MAGICA
Debut start for promising mare that has been given time to mature. Track conditions will suit and draw allows for options for a mare that has shown gate speed in previous trials. Sam Spratt to ride.
