We had the cutest little puppies into visit the clinic recently for their first health check.

Puppies generally need a total of 2- 3 vaccinations to provide them with full protection against common viral and bacterial bugs.

The first health check with the vet is often where we might detect an issue but sometimes things can develop and show up at a later date. Remember to complete your puppy or kitten vaccination course and all the vet health checks.

Have you checked your pets teeth recently?

Often we might notice some smelly breath before we decide to investigate...Sometimes it can be a little frightening to find out what is hiding in the mouth! Sometimes our pets do not like us looking in their mouth either.

Did you know that our vet nurses can check your pet's teeth? They can also offer advice on products that can improve dental health. There are a lot of products out there that don't work, always look for the VOHC stamp of approval on Dental Products. In other exciting news vet nurses are now allowed to perform dental cleans on pets following some legislation changes.

Unfortunately we've been seeing a few animals injured after being hit by cars. Often these pets can have life threatening injuries but sometimes the injuries can be more subtle...If your pet isn't behaving normally please get them vet checked

This poor cat had been hit by a car resulting in 2 smashed canine teeth making it both painful and impossible for them to eat. Thankfully we were able to swiftly help this pet back to health- this is always the best part of our job!

Look at this cutie in for desexing surgery 😍

Did you know that cats can be desexed once they weigh 1kg which is about 12 weeks of age.

Female cats can get pregnant from 16 weeks of age so early desexing is critical for population control.

And once cats are desexed their appetite increases for 6 months after their surgery...so be mindful that they don't gain weight!

Today we have had a lot of phone calls about Parvovirus in dogs... It's great that so many of you are checking that your pet is still current with their vaccinations.

Unfortunately Parvovirus is always around, meaning that vaccination is really critical to keep your pet protected. If you think your pet may have lapsed on vaccinations this is your sign to get them booked in!

Star Patient Award ✨️

This little guy was brought into the clinic because his owner found heaps of pus coming out of his ear 🤢 and he was tilting his head. You could imagine how shocking it would be to find your cat with these symptoms...

Dr Fiona immediately looked into his ear and knew what the problem was...

Locki had to have a big surgery to remove a Polyp from his ear. That white/ pink lump in the photo is the polyp that was removed from his ear 👂 It was HUGE!

Great news about Locki, he's healed and back to normal after his surgery 😀 Purrfect news 🥰
