Blenheim Palace International Horse Trial 🏰

Who would’ve thought 4 years ago when I picked up a tiny 4 year old Jack we’d be here 🤯
The little man was a superstar all weekend in his very first 4* and only his 3rd event on UK soil, doing a nice solid test unfortunately I messed up his first change which is such a shame as he is usually so solid with them! A little disappointed with the score but happy with how he went and he’s only getting stronger.

Show jumping he jumped his little socks off for a beautiful clear around a tough track where only a quarter of the class jumped clear

Cross country was big from the get go but very fair questions and he just tackled it like he always does! Forgives me for my mistakes and just does all he can to jump between the flags. Was never in the plan to ride for the time, really wanted to make sure that both me and Jack had time to organise and set up for the combinations without the time pressure.

First UK show done ✅

Jacko and I completed our first show yesterday at just went for an easy run around the Novice. Definitely had some rusty moments and I need to learn how to ride a dressage test in a 20x40 arena!
Jack jumped amazing though just adding some planned xc time faults to drop us out of the top ten in our first run back, looking forward to stepping up to intermediate at our next show

3* Event Horse of the Year 🥇

How surreal is that! What a week, this horse is really something else 🤩

Started the week with a 4th in the 1.15m on Wednesday which was quite the shock, I even joked that I had my HOY ribbon and that we could go home now!

Dressage on Friday was not our best effort with the tension creeping in at times but so happy with how Jack stayed with me through the entire test.
Cross country was one of our best rounds to date, he jumped everything out of his stride and never once looked or backed off anything felt like I could’ve ridden him around any xc track in the world!
Went into Show Jumping in 3rd place, Jack definitely felt a little on the tired side but he’s such a trier will do anything to get over those poles clear.

Jack was one of the youngest horses in the field at only 8 years old he’s given me so much, such an old soul with an amazing brain can’t wait to see what the future holds for him 🥰

Would like to give a massive congrats to NZ young rider team for taking out the win - Bridie, Mack, Mia and Scout you girls were amazing and represented NZ beautifully!

Archie is a stunning, athletic type. Beautiful mover with great natural balance. No dirt, super sweet and easy on the ground.

One of the most honest jumpers I’ve ridden, will go from any spot. Not bothered by fill, liverpools, ditches etc.

Archie has been produced slowly and carefully by professionals since being broken in. Has spent time with top level dressage and show jump riders and is now starting his eventing career.

Puhinui International Three Day Event New Zealand ,what a show 🥳

Jack was an absolute star this weekend . After an unfortunately tense dressage test, we were a lot further down then we would’ve liked, thanks Penny Pearce for all your help it definitely could’ve been a lot worse. After walking the cross country course I knew it wasn’t going to be a dressage competition and it sure wasn’t. 12 horses set out with only 6 making it through the finish flags and Jack being 1 of only 2 horses to finish with no added penalties meant we jumped up to 3rd overnight.
Had a very soft rail in the show jumping which was pretty gutted about but luckily wouldn’t have changed the end result. To finish Jacks very first 3* long with a 2nd couldn’t be prouder of this little horse 🥹

And can’t forget about the Rocket man, really felt like I was back home riding this guy. Did a nice relaxed dressage test and then jumped double clear to finish just out of the ribbons in the 2*. He’s still feeling so amazing at 17, felt like we could’ve rocked around the 4* with no problems, such a massive credit to his owners thank you so much for letting me have a little spin on him again.
Also really felt like his former owner Katie Fleming was watching over us this weekend and cheering us on 🤍

Taupo “summer” horse trial

Jack was in his third 3* this weekend, we had our dressage in the pouring rain. Definitely some tense moments but he stayed with me the whole time to get a 67%
He was jumping amazing for show jumping with very unfortunate soft rail.
Then he rocked around the cross country which was his biggest track he’s done to date and he just made it feel so easy coming home with only 2 time faults to finish 5th behind some very nice horses!

Archie (owned by Oakridge Equestrian) made his first full eventing debut and was a superstar all weekend stayed nice and relaxed. A tidy test with just a few wobbly moments, clear show jumping even with his first time in an indoor.
We were very very slow cross country, didn’t love going past all the people in the trees but jumped all the jumps he tries so hard so only going to get better and better!

Massive thank you to for not only sponsoring the Horse Trial in the weekend but also sponsoring the eventing challenge at Equifest that Jack and I won, felt super lucky to be riding in my new free jump air vest on cross country day. It’s so light and no where near as bulky as my current back protector.
