One of the problems we did have was getting Basil into the pool. He simply would not go up the ramp. Chris with the help of dad Rick would have to take an end each and pick him up (not an easy task) & get him in the pool. Well, here is Basil now. And you thought swimming dogs was easy…

This is Basil. Basil is a young show dog weighing in about 65kgs. He is also very stubborn. We thought we would show Basil’s journey in the pool to show even stubborn dogs can be won over!!

Our dog pool is a custom-made 6 metre spa pool built on our property in Templeton, Christchurch. Being undercover it can be used all year round.
Heated to around 31 degrees in winter and 28 degrees in summer, the warm water helps ease stiffness in the muscles and joints. The temperature also makes it more pleasurable for the dogs to swim in. When rugby and league players are interviewed the next day after a big game, they are often in a swimming pool. If it works for them, it will work for dogs. We make it enjoyable for everyone, so the dogs want to swim, and they reap the benefits at the same time.
We have been doing this for 10 years now and nothing beats experience.
Your dog doesn’t need to be injured to come here. There are endless reasons to use the pool. They can come for extra exercise, water confidence, fitness or helping with weight loss.
We aim to be an affordable part of your dog’s rehabilitation and fitness. First swim $30.00 Normal swim $35.00. Two dogs, one appointment $50.00. Contact us and find out!!
