She is working on assessments on animal welfare, health care of cats and health care of dogs, she has theory work to do in her Gateway class at school and practical tasks to be verified at work experience. Maeve, Huntaway/Heading/Smithfield (short tail)

Maeve is a very special girl!

History: 11 March. Fractured Tibia and Fibula, bones were shattered (run over). Owner surrendered, Vet contacted us to see if we could help her. Surgery went well. She had pins and an External skeletal fixator (ESF). Maeve has been in a fantastic foster home, healed beautifully and is now ready to find her forever home.

Maeve is a very sweet and cuddly girl. Sleeps happily in crate. (Or on my foot, or leaning against me).
Will sit, recall reasonable, on lead work in progress but pulls less than I expected. Could live with confident cats. Great with dogs and people. Travels well in car. Loves puzzle toys.
Toilet trained.

Energetic, but happy to lie around and snooze too. At the moment she's chewing on a cocoa wood stick while I read.
Will bark when the other dogs do and when she thinks we're taking too long letting her out of crate in the morning. Other than that she is mostly quiet, but her bark is a good Huntaway one!

She's overall a lovely girl, and someone will be very lucky to have her! Seeking a super special home that will treasure and include her as an important part of daily family life. Sleeps inside, cosy and warm.

Adoption process: application form, property visit, vet history check. We do meetings once the adoption process is successfully completed.

Adoption $300 (goes a part of the way towards costs)
This includes spay (later, pre-booked, followed up on), vaccinations, micro-chip (NZCAR), registration. Flea/worm treatments up to date.

South Island adoptions only.
We do home out of the district and can arrange property visits. We do not send the dogs away on transporters.
Stock fenced properties require a fully secure/safe containment area for no one is at home.
Residential properties require 5 to 6ft fencing/gates.
Owner occupied homes.

Wondering where our vet Laura Nettleton is this week?
She's spending some time in Samoa, volunteering her skills to Veterinary Desexing Clinics in the villages.
We wish her safe travels, and are looking forward to seeing what she gets up to! (Which of course we'll be sharing!)

MEET TEAM SAMOA!

This weekend another seven SPAW volunteers embark on a working adventure, this time to Upolu, Samoa.

Our experienced team of repeat volunteer vets and vet nurses will be led by Dr Victoria Chapman, Veterinary Advisor at Zoetis, our premium partner.

Over the past years our Samoa clinics have mostly been in Savai’i and we are excited to be sending a team to the villages of Upolu this year.

We look forward to partnering with APS - Animal Protection Society in Samoa next week and are grateful for all the organising APS has done to make next week go smoothly.

Thanks to the ongoing product endorsement package provided by Zoetis each year, clinics like these are possible and the lives of island animals are positively impacted.

Meet 𝗟𝗮𝘂𝗿𝗮 𝗡𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗹𝗲𝘁𝗼𝗻, one of our 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗱 Small Animal Vets.
𝗟𝗮𝘂𝗿𝗮 is a fantastic part of the Small Animal team at the 𝗩𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗲 𝗧𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘂, bringing with her 20 years of experience.
Being an all-round companion animal General Practioner, 𝗟𝗮𝘂𝗿𝗮 enjoys helping your pets live their best lives. She has strong interests in dermatology (skin disease), soft tissue surgery, dentistry, and working with pocket pets (rabbits, guinea pigs, rats).
Before she settled in Timaru 11 years ago, she spent a lot of time volunteering and travelling, including working with big cats in the Bolivian jungle, at a panda sanctuary in China and in marine conservation in Madagascar. She continues her passion for animals in her home life with the family's two cats, and rabbit.

We have had a Female Black & White Cat brought into our care today. Unfortunately she has no microchip to help us identify her owner. She was found on Le Cren Street, and is unfortunately injured.
