Notice to all clients visiting us this coming week
We are open as normal!
Our leaking roof is getting repaired this week which means there will be some disruption around the clinic while scaffolding is installed on Monday and the work gets done during the rest of the week.
Parking may be difficult at times (you can use the staff parking in back if needed) and it may be noisy at times but we will do our best to ensure we help you and your pets during this time.

Ear mites are teeny, eight legged parasites that are only just visible to the naked eye.
These wee guys like to set up camp in your pets ear canals, but can sometimes also be found on the skin surface.
Unlike fleas an ear mites full life cycle takes place on the pet, where they feed on the wax and oils from the ears.
Some signs that your pet may have ear mites can include
- Ear odour
- Ear irritation causing scratching and head shaking
- A dark waxy discharge
- A crusted rash
- Areas of hair loss around the ears as a result of self trauma
- Aural Hematoma
Our pets can pick up ear mites via direct contact with another pet who already has them, this can be through playing, sharing bedding and sharing grooming equipment.
Alot of our flea treatments also kill ear mites, so to keep these annoying little critters away use flea/mite products as a preventative rather than a treatment.
If your pet is showing any of the above signs give our friendly team a call to make an appointment!

Princess getting back to normal
After seeing Princess today, she recognised us and became as smoochy as she was before the procedure.
Her surgeon Richard Jerram at VSA is especially pleased with her progress. She is eating and drinking, very happy, smoochy and pretty much her normal self.
Princess will be coming home, leaving Auckland tomorrow morning and expected to arrive in Timaru Sunday afternoon.
Wishing you a very Happy New Year and a great 2021!

Today we responded to a call about a duck hit on the road and her ducklings all around her. We got there as quickly as we could and didn’t see any ducklings next to the deceased duck. BUT we could hear them!
How about this (sound on) for cute factor??? 💕💕
