Our products are simple cuts and simple
sausage blends (50:50) made from whole game animal and steaks. We process by hand, vacuum pack, label and freeze. The ‘Carnivoro’ concept was conceived when Haisley and Geoff looked to purchase a small raw pet food company in early 2012. After much research into the petfood industry it was obvious that the future of the industry lay in raw feeding. Owners were becoming wiser and no longer believed the marketing hype surrounding dry foods or canned product. It was suprising to find that although there were a number of raw food companies in New Zealand there was a niche available for simple, vacuum packed product with no ‘extras’. On this basis Haisley and Geoff decided to start from scratch. After difficulty in finding suitable premises in Auckland it was decided to convert an old butcher’s shop in Whangarei into a boutique style factory. The building’s walls were sanded back and the floors polished before being finished top to bottom with N.Z.F.S.A approved paints and sealers. A new chiller was added along with stainless steel benches, counters and display chillers. After putting in place an extensive Risk Management Plan the company’s factory in Whangarei opened after full M.P.I signoff in early February 2013. A small group of professional hunters came on board shortly thereafter and with the arrival of Master Butcher Wayne the adventure began. By May 2013 Haisley and Wayne had created a number of sausage blends and ways of presenting the different cuts of meat. This process was fine tuned by feedback from a loyal and growing following of Whangarei locals and the occasional Aucklander keen on a long drive. It was obvious that by June the concept was appreciated by the raw dog food aficionados and it was decided to open in Auckland, and Carnivoro at the Fox Outlet was created. It opened in late June 2013.
