We are delighted to announce our latest purchase. This is Rowan straight off the transporter. Rowan has settled in with the herd like she has always been here. She will be going to the breeding paddock with Flaxton Green Jaxson Brown at the end of September and we look forward to next season in the hope of a lovely foal.

We are switching all the corgi information over to Donnbrae Kennels on Facebook as we now have our name registered with Dogs New Zealand. This page will be for our English/Irish donkeys and the livestock we run at Donnbrae Farm. Our Website will be undergoing a transformation too.

Sassy Lass and Chantily Lace arrived home just over a week ago from their summer holiday romances which turned into a couple of months longer than we expected. Both jennies have returned positive pregnancy tests with Sassy due approx 29 November and lacey approx 4 January. Exciting six months ahead watching their tummies expanding.

Totally disappointed in the Donkey & Mule Society of NZ for going through the breed registries for the donkeys in NZ and changing data so that a number of English/Irish donkeys are now recorded as their breed being New Zealand donkeys. Their breed is English/Irish as the original donkeys imported into NZ were from England and Ireland. Also the partbred English/Irish donkeys with percentages of EI blood eg 50%, 75% & 87.5% are also English/Irish donkeys.
People that do not understand how to use breeding software and certainly do not understand bloodlines have no place being involved with keeping these records.

A big congratulations to Copperleaf Cardigan Welsh Corgis with their young dog Copperleaf King of the Cosmos (Rhys) winning Puppy of the Group and then going on to win Best Puppy in Show at the Auckland Kennel Council Championship show. This is one of the biggest dog shows in the country. Rhys is a littermate to my girls.

Every so often I hear from people saying there are no donkeys for sale. There are currently two small donkeys available on the Donkey & Mule Society website.
One in the North Island and one in the South Island.

Her sire is Malakai Ch Changes (imp Aus AMMD & his sire and dam were both imported from USA). Her dam is Windy Ridges Daisy

If anyone is interested in a cardigan corgi puppy Copperleaf Cardigan Welsh Corgis are hoping to have a litter due 7th June. The pups will be blacks/red brindles. The parents will be a red brindle dog and the bitch is the mother of my Loulou and Brynn. Loulou is a carbon copy of her mother Megan. My pups are absolutely wonderful in temperament and Brynn has been winning against her sister in the show ring however Loulou is maturing into a lovely stunning bitch. These pups will be registered and can be shown.

Yesterday afternoon we took Brynn and Loulou to the Otago Kennel Assoc championship show held in Dunedin. We entered the afternoon show as the girls had a 3 hour trip to get there so we gave them some time to settle in before we were in the ring. Our judge was Geoff Whitfield (NZ). Brynn (Copperleaf Starlit Dream) beat her sister Loulou (Copperleaf Star Jasmine) to get Best of Breed and that put Brynn forward for the next class Baby Puppy of Group (working dogs) which to our delight she won. This put Brynn forward for Best in Show so she was up against all the other breeds of puppies in the show. A bit a of thrill to get through to BIS. The other puppies were stunning.

We had a Ribbon Parade today at Kennington. Brynn (Copperleaf Starlit Dream) was in two shows and won Baby Puppy of Group twice and Best of Group twice. We missed out on Best in Parade to Jackie's beautiful little cocker spaniel. All Brynn wants to do now is sleep.

Remember the song by Guns N' Roses - Paradise City, Take me down to paradise city, where the grass is green and the girls (birds) are pretty, oh won't you please take me home? This is what happens when you raise a couple of paradise shelducks and then they nest in the hayshed and then they return at this time of year with all their offspring from prior years. Sweetpea and Chatterbox nested in a bunny hole this year and had 8 babies. Sweetie another young parrie we raised is still unmated and we are hoping that she will go and have a chat with some of the lovely looking males in the paddock. The girls have white heads.

Lollipop and Missy had a visit from Simon Roughan Equine Dentist today. Lollipop has missed getting a dental done for many years as a number of equine dentists use power tools and sedation which means they can't work on a pregnant jenny. Simon did a very good job on both jennies without the need for sedation. Lollipop did think Simon would be a pushover however Simon was a step ahead of her tricks and she just gave up. We look forward to seeing Simon soon to check out the rest of the herd. Lollipop is coming up to 20 years of age. Hard to believe I've had Lollipop since she was 7 months old.

Of course we also had Missy and her jack foal Cruise joining Lollipop and Bella in Petville at the southland A & P show. Very enjoyable day being able to chat with many parents and their children. Many people have heard of miniature donkeys and thought our foals were miniature donkeys. They were rather surprised to find they were looking at baby English donkeys. Many were amazed at how soft the foal's coats were. A big thank you for the team who put together Petville. A fantastic effort.

We had a wonderful day at the Southland A & P show in Petville. Lollipop and her jenny foal Bella enjoyed many pats and a whole lot of hand feeding from many little hands.
A bit of a change for us as we usually show in conformation classes however Lollipop's son Valentino had to be scratched from showing yesterday due to having had a little visit with the vet. He is recovering well and we hope he will back to the show ring next season.

Brynn (Copperleaf Starlit Dream) and Lou Lou (Copperleaf Star Jasmine) receiving some extra attention from Veterinarian Marcus today. Both seem to love attending the Vet South Invercargill clinic for their shots. Lou Lou would probably be happy to stay there and be their official mascot. She just loves greeting everyone.

Merry Xmas everyone from our herd to yours.

Lou Lou on the left still a little queasy after being carsick and Brynn who was loving every minute of the attention. Neither were keen to go in for their vaccines but it was all better after lots of cuddles. Many thanks to everyone at Vetsouth Pets for the xmas pup gifts.

What's cuter than one Corgi puppy? Thats right, two Corgi puppies (with festive bandanas!)

Vet nurses Jen and Rach sneaking in an extra cuddle check as part of their duties.

I heard a noise at 4:30am so of course I scoot outside to check on Lollipop and this little girl had just arrived. Took this once she had dried off a little. Think she will be full of s***k this little girl. She was backing into lollipop and trying to bounce and kick her Mother.

24 hours old. A lovely purebred EnglishIrish jack foal. Would be suitable for a stud jack as he has a breeding co-efficient of 5. Has 7 generations of bloodlines going back to England and Ireland.
