Lacey couldn't hold him in any longer. The welcome chorus told me of his arrival at 5:50am this morning. Five hours old and he is already bouncing around. Sire: Flaxton Green Macauley Dam: Donnbrae Chantilly Lace.

I'm playing midwife again. On the countdown to Lacey foaling. She is now looking rather uncomfortable and is making the most of being in the house paddock. She never lets the opportunity pass for a possible treat.

Gave Sassy Lass a bath this morning and Knight got a good brushing so we could go visiting this afternoon. Our visit was to the Rowena Jackson Rest Home where Knight got his first taste of being petted and adored by the residents. (thats my Mum Barbara) English/Irish donkeys are so very docile and while Knight wasn't too thrilled about going in through two sets of sliding glass doors Sassy was more than happy to stand for some pats and kept a very close eye on Knight. Sassy might be my new donkey for public events after today. She didn't put a foot wrong.

Farewell Mr Ginger. May there be a sunny spot to sun yourself with bunnies to watch in heaven.

The English/Irish bloodlines are now in recovery with three lovely purebred jack foals born this season. These foals all have excellent bloodlines and should be very suitable for breeding purposes in the coming years. Colours range from chestnut through to brown and dark chocolate brown.

Welcome to the world baby boy. Sire is Flaxton Green All About Alfie and Dam is Donnbrae Sassy Lass. That brings the total number of purebred English/Irish jacks that can be used for breeding purposes in New Zealand to grand total of seven. Much thanks goes to the Flaxton Green Stud for working with us to save this rare breed in New Zealand. This wee man has a breeding co-efficient of 1.881% which makes him an excellent candiate for a breeding prospect. Now we just wait and see how he grows out.

We currently have Cruise available. Well that is if my neighbour down the road that is grazing our jennies due to our wet weather is willing to let him come home. Cruise is soaking up the extra attention he is getting. We also had our vet visit on Tuesday and it looks like we will be welcoming a surprise foal sometime in the Autumn. Mia didn't appear to cycle last spring however we left her with Jaxson in the hope that she might hold a service. Sometimes a jenny if they don't take in the spring they will in the autumn. Foaling will start in November and it looks like it will be ongoing for a few months.

We have two geldings for sale. They will be listed on my website once I have updated photos. Darcy is dark brown (Darcy is now heading to the west coast) and Cruise is broken coloured. Darcy is 21 months old and Cruise is 11 months old. Darcy leads well and Cruise has had a few practise runs and did well. Both are well handled.

We are delighted to announce our latest purchase. This is Rowan straight off the transporter. Rowan has settled in with the herd like she has always been here. She will be going to the breeding paddock with Flaxton Green Jaxson Brown at the end of September and we look forward to next season in the hope of a lovely foal.

Sassy Lass and Chantily Lace arrived home just over a week ago from their summer holiday romances which turned into a couple of months longer than we expected. Both jennies have returned positive pregnancy tests with Sassy due approx 29 November and lacey approx 4 January. Exciting six months ahead watching their tummies expanding.
