Waiting, waiting, waiting 📆
With so much lovely summer grass these lovely ladies are bursting, huge udders, tight bellies.
Can’t be long now, we’re at 146 days. These are the first to go with a couple more due later in Jan/Feb.
Hopefully no issues lambing with all this feed growing big lambs 🤞
Can’t wait to have cute lambs around again 🖤🤍

Summer shear ✅ The flock have had their summer haircuts ✂️ in time for the hot weather if it ever arrives ☀️ They’ve grown some fantastic fleeces this season for me to try & find some free time to use for felting etc.
Everyone’s looking good under their wool as we prepare for half the girls to start summer lambing later in January with the other half in spring.
They always look so awkward and odd without their wool and all their freckles show 🫣
Thanks to Liam our shearer who’s done a fantastic job.

Happy New Year from the Top Knots. A big thank you to all the wonderful families who gave new homes to our baby Knots this year. We’ve had sheep go to loving new homes all over NZ after a fantastic breeding season.🏡
After patiently waiting till our calves have grown to breeding age finally our first miniature highland is due soon to Flora 🙌🏻

Mini moo cooking ?? 🤞🤞🐂🐮
Hank the vertically challenged tank put his all into romancing the leggy Flora last season but the height difference proved a challenge. Or did it?
She’s not been pregnancy tested but we’re started to get a little excited that our first home bred fluffy mini moo could be on the way 🐮🤞🤞🤞some exciting signs 👀
Everything’s crossed for a summer calf. 🙏🏻

A lovely evening hanging with the girls while we get packed for an early start to meet the transport. The last of the spring lambs heads off in the morning to her wonderful new home in the South Island thanks to Opihi Valais Blacknose Nz
I’ve been very disciplined and only kept one lamb, but before you know it a handful of my favourite girls will be delivering some gorgeous summer lambs ☀️ Very grateful to now be at our goal of a wee flock of lovely purebreds that fits our small block.

The mini moos have been on gardening duties helping to tidy up around the section. Things have got pretty overgrown with long grass & wild seeded bushes. They loved smashing them down and using them as scratching brushes.

An epic road trip 🛻 along The forgotten highway SH43 in lovely weather today to drop of our lovely ram lamb Fortune to his new owners.
A lovely farm visit, meeting them roughly halfway ish thanks to Helen McKenzie.🍕☕️
Congrats to the Taylor family on your new Top Knot boy🐏 Wishing you lots of cute lambs in the future.
Jed came along for a ride, the Ute windows and doors are now covered in dog drool 🐕‍🦺💦

Welcome to the Top Knot Team handsome Jed🫶. Jed comes to us from Retired Working Dogs NZ Charitable Trust This young Huntaway hasn’t had the best start in life and work is definitely optional from now on. We will be working on building his trust back in humans and his only job now is to enjoy life and feel safe again.
Huge admiration for the amazing work the team at retired working dogs do. Jed has been rescued, received fantastic, experienced foster care to get him to the point he can be re- homed. It’s going to a long road of rehab for this boy but he’s definitely worth it.

Rhys the ram heads home today 🐏. We are so grateful to our lovely friends at Jordalee Creek who have trusted us with him for the last 6 weeks. He’s been a joy to have here on his own episode of ‘Love Island-lamb edition ‘. 💘Matching up with all the ladies scheduled for summer lambing. 💞 We’re excited to see what cute bundles arrive in Jan/Feb 2025.
Rhys has a fantastic temperament and always looks so proud of himself for doing his job 🙌🏻✌️.
