With the warmer weather we start to see an increase in the number of parvovirus cases coming in. The symptoms of parvovirus infection vary from dog to dog, depending on the severity of the infection. These are some important signs to watch out for:
๐ดLethargy
๐ดLoss of appetite
๐ดVomiting
๐ดSevere, often bloody, diarrhea
๐ดAbdominal pain and bloating
๐ดFever or low body temperature (hypothermia)
If your dog shows any of these signs, immediately contact your veterinarian. Persistent vomiting and diarrhea can quickly cause dehydration, and damage to the intestines which can cause septic shock.
Vaccination is the best prevention so make sure your pooches vaccinations are up to date.
