Yesterday was a special day for us. We had our first yard visit from another dogman and his pack. Years ago, I used to walk Cam's dog Amy. In that time, we became friends, and when Cam was looking to move into something different, I jumped at the chance to play the role of mentor and helped him into the industry as a dog walker in Wellington.

Seeing Cam and his dogs yesterday showed me just how far Cam has come, and I am so proud of his work and the dogman he has become. You see, when you work with dogs long enough, you stop listening to their handlers' words and let the dogs do the talking. Seeing his relationship with his pack and how smoothly they came into my yard like we were all old friends showed me how far Cam has come.

I've helped a lot of people in this industry, and few make anything of it. Most become stale very quickly, they stop learning, they know it all after 5 minutes and quite honestly they use my reputation for nothing more than self gain with little to no interest in honoring our work, our traditions and the dogs. I have never asked for recognition for what I do, and I rarely ask for anything in return.

Cam however is one of the few who gave me what I want from helping people and one of the few who makes my work and dedication to dogs so much more than worth it as I get to proudly watch him grow into an amazing dogman and a shining light of goodness in an industry plagued by shills and fakes.

May you live long and prosper in this industry, my friend, I'll always be proud of my association to you and your work! 🙏

Friday ✨️ the end of our first week in our new yard! The dogs all enjoyed the new space, sniffing all the new smells and finding their new spots! This yard feels like the start of something special... at least we think so 🤩

Dog daycare with a difference, providing service to the Wairarapa region.

Cost
$55 per dog per day. (Incl GST) This includes the mandatory pick up and drop off service. (Multi day and multi dog discounts available)

Days and Areas
We operate Monday to Friday. All dogs are picked up in our van and dropped home afterward. Pick-ups are between 8 and 9.30 am. Drop-offs are between 3 and 4.30 pm.

MONDAY- Martinborough, Featherston, and Greytown.
TUESDAY- Masterton and Carterton.
WEDNESDAY - Martinborough, Featherston, and Greytown.
THURSDAY- Masterton and Carterton.
FRIDAY- Masterton and Carterton.

To get your dog involved, send us an email at [email protected] or send us a message to arrange an assessment for your dog! Before we include any new dog they first need to be assessed. We do this in a meet and greet process where we come to you so we can meet the dog in their own environment and you can meet us!

Canine Retreat is a family run business. Locally owned and operated. We are rurally based in Clareville, Wairarapa.

Wednesday 🤩 The seal of approval has been given by the Wednesday dogs for our new yard! Our first rainy day there and the new container setup was a hit with handlers and dogs alike! 💥
