The heatwave is definitely here!
During this hot time I'm sure we're all keen to keep our bunnies safe
Do:
- Ensure your bun has clean fresh water
-Keep bun in a place that has adequate ventilation and shade
Avoid:
-Moving bun from hot to cold places suddenly (such as bringing inside to an air conditioned room)
- Doing things that add additional stress such as cleaning, big environmental changes
-Putting ice in their water
Tip/Tricks
- Freeze plastic water bottles with water and leave in the cages for buns to lie against
- Place light coloured ceramic tiles in their cage for them to lie on
- Change their water at the hottest part of the day
If bun shows any signs of overheating, wet their ears and between their ears with cool water immediately

Just seen a post on an "advice" group where a bun parent was advised to take their bunny to the vet for red urine. It's really important to remember that buns are not small, furry humans. Whilst red urine may be a concern for you, bunny urine can be a rainbow of colours and be healthy!

After over 13 years of dedicated involvement with the New Zealand rabbit community, I have made the difficult decision to step away from the Rabbit Council of New Zealand.
This decision has not come lightly. I have contributed thousands of hours over the past decade — in education, event support, health and husbandry, judging and most significantly the running of shows. I have served on multiple committees, supported countless breeders, and always tried to lead with transparency, accountability, and aroha for the animals we all care about.
However, recent experiences behind the scenes have left me unable to continue in good faith. I believe in respectful communication, fair process, and collaborative leadership.
I remain incredibly proud of the work I’ve done, and deeply grateful to the many breeders, exhibitors, and rabbit lovers who have stood beside me. The future of Narnia Rabbitry is still undecided, please bare with me as I process and take time to just be with my bunnies.
Thank you to everyone who has supported me on this journey. Your messages, your kindness, and your solidarity mean more than I can say.
Ngā mihi nui,
Madeleine Gray

So incredible to have so many homebred Narnia bunnies earning their diplomas. This shows that our bunnies are always healthy, happy buns but also are true to what you'd expect of a Flemish Giant. Flemish are a slow developing breed and take a lot more commitment than most due to their long slow development phase meaning it takes a lot longer to see progress. It's great to see consistency in our bunnies! Cottontail is very close to her Champion diploma! Once that happens she will be retired from the show table to make room for the next generation and live the life of luxury that she has earned!

Why do we sell our Vitality Meal topper?
Like all products at Narnia Rabbitry, we saw a need in the market. I look to offer rabbit families affordable high quality products and we only sell the products I use day to day. Almost all commercial pellets available are not nutritionally balanced. Many of the 'premium brands' contain too much calcium leading to premature kidney issues and shortening life spans. As a zoologist, I did the reading myself and developed a meal topper recipe that meets those deficits in nutritional need whilst still offering all of the benefits of a natural diet. The Vitality Meal topper can benefit your bunnies coat, nails and general wellbeing.

An amazing show at Clive under the NZ Flemish Giant Club this weekend. Celebrating our two homebred does Narnia's Cottontail and Narnia's Circe who both received Best Fancy. We continue to strive to have Flemish Giants that are happy, healthy and true to the breed. The feedback and results at this show suggest we are definitely heading strongly in the right direction. Thanks to our judges and the team that helped the show be such an amazing and fun day.

Another few diplomas to add to my growing collection! So proud of these homegrown buns.
