It's so easy to get distracted with this beautiful horse Tui. Logan only went in to check her water and ended up trying the "Bluetooth halter" challenge. At any stage she could have runaway or just chose not to co-operate but she was perfect and stayed connected the whole time. She actually ended up following Logan out the paddock.

So exciting news, Logan is currently starting his studies which will be completed next year to start providing Equine Assisted Therapy at Riverstone Equine Center. This will allow individuals and groups that struggle with certain disorders or complications to be able to connect and learn from horses. One of the horses will be Bro. Has a past, but now a gentle giant

We didn't get a chance to get a decent snap of Spicy before she left today 😭 but such a huge improvement from the horse that turned up. A beautiful natured, nice moving and polite mare. Spicy has gone off to her home to be with chunks. Our gate will always be open for Spicy.

Building trust is important. The rider needs to trust the horse and vise versa. My last visit with Sheelagh Prosser she told me that i had to slow down with Bro. So ive gone back to the basics, the fundamentals and building trust between us. This took a little bit to get to this stage but hopefully it's going to help him feel safer with me in saddle.

Sheelagh has been coming and working with our horses and riders for a while now and the results have been very obvious. She's excellent with both horse and riders and explains everything as she goes. Very insightful and interesting to hear.

We have "black zorro" back after a year of being a paddock mate to an old spca horse that we rehomed last year. So straight back into work he goes and he did not disappoint with a few really good bucks (he didn't realise i was putting a saddle on). I've also put an updated photo of Spicy up. She's coming along so nicely!!

We promised to show the good, bad and the ugly. Well here's a bit of ugly... Nothing like a sunny day to get a full grasp on the condition of the new arrivals. Name of the mare is Spicy after that was how she was described to us. And the gelding will be named Chunk, not so much now but in the future he will be a little chunk!!!

We don't have everything, but we recognize that we're lucky enough to have more than others. So we like to share what we have. This young girl absolutely loves horses and loves to be interacting with them. We look forward to offering many people the chance to experience horses and all that they offer.

Officially starting a page for Riverstone Flat Equine Center. This is just to keep people updated on the property and the horses we have taken on. Tash, Logan and Rachel are setting up the property to be run as a safe place for troubled and neglected horses. They have to date taken on 7 horses from the SPCA and then rehabilitated, retrained and then rehomed 6 of them. They have also taken on local horses which needed a new approach and second chance.
Tash, Logan and Rachel have built this property from bareland with plenty of blood, sweat and tears.
Future plans will involve covered yards, round pen and an all weather arena that will be large enough to hold clinics of all sorts.
We appreciate the current support we have and certainly appreciate any future support.
