Scruffy 2 Fluffy Dog Grooming have become a grooming hub in Upper Hutt.

What does this mean for you? Based out of 1 Whakatiki Street, Upper Hutt are three groomers who all run their own individual businesses under the one roof.

Introducing:

Scruffy 2 Fluffy Dog Grooming run by myself - Karen and my contact number is 021 666 267 or [email protected]. Operating hours - Monday to Friday by appointment only. I groom dogs up to 15kgs

Bijou Dog Grooming run by Moni - Moni can be contacted on 027 602 4788 or [email protected]. Operating hours are by appointment only. Moni grooms dogs up to 10kgs.

Dog Do's Grooming run by Sarah - Sarah can be contacted on 027 858 4846 or [email protected]. Operating hours are by appointment only. Sarah grooms bigger dogs too.

We are located next door to Sugar and Spice Cafe and are at the Fergusson Drive end of Whakatiki Street.

Can anyone help please?

I have been asked by a dear friend if I know anyone who would be able to adopt two brothers. Their mum has gone into care and is heartbroken that she cannot take them with her.

They do need to stay together as they are litter mates. Their names are Deigo (white) and Chico (brown). They are up to date with vaccinations and have had some dental work done - other than that they're very healthy for their age - they're older gents at 13 years old. Are in Wellington and have lived with cats before so no issues there.

Please let me know if you or anyone you know would be interested as they are currently in boarding kennels as no family are able to have them.

Please be aware of where ot is safe to take your dogs swimming and where you need to stay away from.

TOXIC ALGAE WARNING at the following locations:

👉 Te Awa Kairangi/Hutt River at and upstream of Silverstream Bridge. Levels are moderate and the odd detached mat observed.
👉 Pākuratahi River at Kaitoke Campground. Levels are moderate.
👉 Wainuiomata River at Richard Prouse Park. Levels are moderate-high.
👉 Wairarapa - Ruamahanga River at the Double Bridges and Te Ore Ore sites. Levels are moderate.

Toxic algae is present in multiple locations throughout the region. It is a risk to both dogs and swimmers, particularly children. Dogs should be kept on leads and away from the water, and children should be supervised.

Toxic algae is deadly to dogs, and can make people sick. Remember, preventing your dogs from eating toxic algae is better than any known treatment.

If you have been in contact with toxic algae and are feeling unwell ring Healthline 0800 611 116. If you think your dog has swallowed toxic algae, take it to the nearest vet immediately. You can check for updates on any of the sites we monitor on the LAWA website lawa.org.nz/swim

I can hardly believe that we are just about half way through the year!! Where have the months gone?

With Kelly leaving, I have had to change around all those booked into my schedule and after doing a count up of how many appointments I have left until Christmas - all I can say is - If you want an appointment you need to get booking now, there are less than 5 appointments left for 2023!!

As some of you are already aware, Kelly has found herself having to leave Scruffy 2 Fluffy Dog Grooming. It wasn't a decision that she made easily and I'm sure would much rather still be here, but life deals us what it seems fit at any given time.

I am very sad to see her go. Kelly came here as a freshly trained groomer looking for someone to mentor her - I'm not sure if I helped her or not but I have seen her skills and confidence grow in the almost 18 months that we worked together.

Kelly - thank you so much for stepping up when I needed to have time off for my surgery last year, you probably don't know what that meant to me and also how hard it was for me to step back and let you do what needed to be done. You are always welcome to come and pick up where you left off when the time is right for you. You may not work here anymore but I will still be lighting up your messenger and facebook all the time! We didn't know each other 18 months ago but I'm sure we will remain close - again thank you for everything you have done for me!!

With Christmas in the not too distant future, the number of available appointments left for the year are going very quickly!!

We have no appointments left in October or December and only a very limited number available in November! If anyone would like to make a booking, please go to the website, www.scruffy2fluffy.co.nz where there is a bookings/availability tab where you can enter all your details and see what suits you. If you have more than one dog, please enter them separately, otherwise it won't show you any availability!!

If you need help and can't work it out, please let me know and I can talk you through it.
