Lil Trotters Pop Up February dates 🐎🐴🌞

Due to my helpers being busy with horse shows and pony club, we will just pop the first weekend up to get us started for the month. Hopefully there's more to come.

Saturday 1st February 2pm, rain off day Sunday 2nd February 2pm.

Come and join us for a beginners experience designed for children from 2 to 10 years old. This introduction to ponies class runs for one hour, 2pm to 3pm. Bookings are essential as we have limited spaces.
$40 per child.

Please send us a message to book in or for any questions. Payment via bank deposit is due at the time of booking to secure the position.
We require a minimum of 24 hours cancelation notice.

Located Mangaroa, Upper Hutt.

I love this little boy, he's just a big teddy bear, not a two year old c**t! Here's hoping he's the same at the show this weekend. Thanks, girls, for getting my baby stallion ready while I supervised in the shade.

First show of the season, four ponies, three riders, five of us competing inhand, 42 classes entered and a communal BBQ planned. I say it every year and here I go again... Wairarapa Welsh Show is the best show all season!

2025 was supposed to bring positive vibes and a fresh start. Yeah right!

Unfortunately, our lovely broodmare Polly had to be put down earlier this week. A huge shout out to Rachel from Vets on Riverbank, who spent the weekend trying to save our sweet girl.

After only 8 weeks at RVE, Polly and I had formed a great friendship. I was allowed to catch her and we went for walks together and she loved a pamper. I had big plans for her and her special bloodlines.

Polly will be succeeded her son Zorro, who at 3 months old, is now weaned and is living with his Aunty Sweetheart and his best friend Peggy the foal.

What a year it has been and lots of huge changes in the pony and horse crew.

Specializing in Welsh Mountain ponies and younger riders has been such a highlight. We love running frequent Lil Trotters sessions and weekly lessons for our local community.

Today, Polly was getting hand walked on the track to have a munch on the long grass and Zorro was wondering along with us.

Then Angie and Pixie rode past and we all had a meet and greet. After establishing that Pixie didn't want to make babies with Zorro, he just followed her right around the track! He met all the ponies through the fence on his journey.

Polly was too busy eating to notice her son was even gone until he was well out of sight.

This little chap is the cutest wee time waster and so much fun to have around, I don't know how I'll ever sell him! I shall procrastinate a bit longer...

And for the haters, Angie is 49kg and Pixie can carry her weight fine. We know she is too tall.

Bandit.

I bought this super chap for the riding school, as he is old and very experienced. Months later, he has done a total of zero minutes of riding and cost a fortune!

I have purposely added the photos from recent to freshly arrived. This is his journey so far...

Diagnosis:
Chronic laminitis, major pedal bone rotation.

Bloods done
Dentals done
X-rays done
Started on Pracend and Metformin
Wears handmade aluminum bar shoes, which are glued on
Has gained weight
Now has his own Timothy hay

He's not out of the woods yet but he is much healthier and we are doing what we can for him.

Bandit and Bonita were off on adventures today to the BRANZ children's Christmas party. What my friends talk me into doing!

Bandit was in charge of patting and brushing and Bonita the pony rides. Bandit was very happy to be out and about again at his old age and had a spring in his step.

Thanks to my lovely helpers for their young walking legs today.

Tomorrow, Bonita is off on another adventure at a CTR with Harlow. Busy pony this one.

Pancho is officially a good boy and the favourite brother, first trot off the lead and look at him go. Time to hand the pink halter of shame on to Don...

Cookie Monster x5 rounds today. A few hairy moments but we survived. First hose off he actually enjoyed today too.
