Hi everyone, the flies are starting to arrive and annoy our equines, don’t forget that our Bot-Off fly spray repels bots all day ( unless it gets washed off) if your horse wears a summer sheet, just a quick spray on legs will keep them bot egg free, we’ve improved the recipe so it repels those annoying black flies and will help stop your horse from stamping. Going for a ride spray all over and enjoy a fly free time.

We’ve been building up our stocks of fly spray ready for those annoying bots.
Be prepared, so you can prevent any bots eggs from being ingested and stop your horses from being stressed by the flys during the day.
Buying the concentrate saves you money, and is super easy, just add it to the specified amount of water. It comes in 3 sizes, 250mls mls makes 1 litre of fly spray.
Then there’s the 500mls which gives you 2 litres of spray, and the 1 litre bottle of concentrate which gives you 4 litres of fly spray.
250mls = $40
500mls=$70
1ltre = $130
You can always just buy the ready made 500ml flyspray with spray bottle for $25

Our Wonder Hoof Wax is a must have for these wetter months coming - eliminates thrush, white line and seedy toe while acting as a moisturising barrier against the mud and ick. Can also be used to plug up any holes in the hoof, helping reduce risk of abscesses or to help heal existing abscesses.

Would anyone like to try our thrush beating hoof wax? If your horse has thrush and you feel like you’re fighting a losing battle trying to get rid of it , we know how you feel, that was us, we tried most of the products on the market, and sometimes they did more harm than good, but we never seemed to find something that would just stop it and encourage new growth at the same time. Our wonder hoof wax has Manuka oil in it which is an anti fungal and anti bacterial, but at the same time has super healing properties, put it on a clean (CLEAN) foot and watch it do its stuff. If the thrush is deep seated into the central culcus and collateral groove then the wax needs to be pushed into those places to get to the thrush. You may find that it needs a couple of treatments to get the thrush gone depending on how deep it is. Then we found that rubbing the wax on the frog, heal and sole and pushing it into the grooves with a finger once or twice a week, keeps the thrush at bay.

Latest pic of the pastern treated with the miracle balm this has just had one more application put on and then left for a couple of days to see how it was healing. Another application has been put on since so it’ll be good to see the difference again.

FLY SPRAY, NEW IMROVED FORMULA

Our new improved fly spray not only repels bots, but we’ve listened to feed back, and it now also repels those little biting black flies.
In changing a small element of the formula to ensure it was plant based, we inadvertently lost the ability to repel those flies.
We have tested our new formula and are happy that it now stops those biting flies from landing and annoying the horses. It still stops the bots and kills the eggs and ticks on contact.
It also smells better too with a lovely fresh lemon fragrance.

We have still got the Wonder Balm for treating rain scald and mud fever, but now we have the super healing Miracle Balm, which contains Manuka oil, emu oil and everlasting essential oil, all super healing ingredients.
This balm is dearer because the active ingredients are expensive to buy, but the results are impressive, just see the post below with just two days using the balm on those nasty wounds on the pasterns. Just one application each day.

Here is a freshly trimmed hind hoof with thrush in the collateral groove and the white line disease cut out around where the white line joins the hoof wall, the hoof is covered with our hoof wax, 2 days later no further applications of the wax and the thrush is all but gone, and the white line is healing nicely. There are no caustic ingredients in our hoof wax so while the thrush and white line disease is attacked, all the hoof wax ingredients promote fast healing and recovery.

Infested with ticks? Try our Halo Horse Bot Off fly spray, it kills ticks and bot eggs on contact, keeps all the annoying fly’s away, and we’ve also found that when used regularly around the lower legs and face it keeps the ticks off altogether.
We recommend using a damp sponge if your going to put it on the face, avoiding the horses eyes and mouth.

A friend gave me some tack to clean ( my favorite job) I love using our tack soap and tack wax to transform tired dry leather. Both the soap and wax contain oils and essential oils to nourish and protect your tack from drying out and gathering mould.

We’re excited that our products are starting to sell on trademe.
We’ve spent a few years testing the flyspray and tweaking it to make it as gentle and effective as possible. I even use it on myself to keep those nasty sandflies away, now a few friends are doing the same, it keeps them off all day.
When we’ve used it on the horses the bots hate it and fly off to find somewhere else to lay their eggs. If we’ve not had the chance to spray them and they have the bot eggs, the spray turns the eggs whitish and enables them to be easily removed after about 10mins, I generally just leave them to come off when I’m next grooming as they’re no longer living and a problem.
While I’ve been using the spray my horses and other test horses have remained tick free, I haven’t ever put the spray on the horses face, just at the throat and the poll, so I’ve occasionally found the yellow sticky eggs in the forelock, at that point I just use a damp sponge with the spray on it soak the eggs and leave them. They just drop out by themselves as they’re always gone the next time I check.
A friend did a test on a pair of horses she had come in that were infested with ticks. On one horse she used the Ripcord and the other horse she used our spray, she found that the ticks died and came off the horse far quicker with our spray than they did with Ripcord. But I’ll leave her to tell that story.
The spray keeps all the annoying flies away, you just have to make sure the legs and belly are well covered in the lotion. If you don’t like using the spray bottle, then a damp sponge works just as well.
With every fly spray purchased we are offering a small pot of our Wonder Balm to try.
Full of potent Manuka oil that fights fungal infections as well as healing and reducing scaring. We’re just amazed at all the different things it works on. Again we’ve been using it on ourselves as well as the horses and it really is a Wonder Balm. More about that another day.
