For all those new puppy parents unsure of how to correctly brush your baby!
Part the fur and make sure you are brushing to the root and not just the top of the coat; although your pup may look brushed and knot free there may be a big ol' mess underneath. If you can't move a comb freely down your babies fur then you gotta keep going!
Brush your pup at LEAST once a day if you want to keep their coat long and luscious, do it after dinner in your wind down time, in the morning before work, or after a good play when your pup is tuckered out.
Sadly if your baby isn't brushed regularly, knotting can result in matting, which can worsen to blood circulation being cut off on certain limbs, hematomas (blood collection, typically on matted ears), UTI's, yeast infections, scaling of the skin and in some cases of double coated dogs, alopecia (complete hair loss.)
Never be afraid or ashamed of asking for help, sometimes things get away from us, and that's what your groomer is for, not just advice; but a fresh start :)
Happy festive season all of you beautiful people and sweet fur-babies! Rush week is coming up with only a couple spots left, if you'd like your pup washed or clipped before the break these are the current openings!
