🎉 Celebrating 1 Year of Ruahine Animal Rescue! 🎉

What an incredible journey it’s been! On the 14th of December we marked our 1st Anniversary. To celebrate this milestone, we hosted a BBQ at the shelter to thank our amazing sponsors, volunteers, fosters, and committee members. Your support has been invaluable in helping us make a real difference in the lives of so many animals. 🐾

In 2024, Ruahine Animal Rescue:
🌟 Rehomed 63 animals – 45 cats/kittens and 18 dogs/puppies found their forever homes!
🌟 Raised just over $50,000 to fund our rescue efforts.
🌟 Received 415 phone calls and provided 1,022 hours of phone support.
🌟 Our incredible volunteers dedicated over 7,000 hours to helping animals in need. 🙌

None of this would have been possible without each of you. Whether you’ve donated, volunteered, fostered, or simply supported us from afar – THANK YOU! We are filled with gratitude and pride for all that we’ve accomplished together. 🙏 💖

We’re excited for what’s to come in 2025 as we continue this important work. Together, we will keep rescuing, rehoming, and giving animals the second chance they deserve. 💙

Carmel, the adorable 5 and a half month-old Basenji cross is ready to steal your heart! 💖

She is a cuddle-loving girl who enjoys snuggling with her foster mum and sister. She’s a quick learner who’s already mastered housetraining and is ready to show off her smarts! 🐕✨

She’s made tons of new friends in the neighbourhood (especially with the kids!) and her playful side loves to shine. While she’s not quite a fetch pro yet, Carmel is super clever and will catch on quickly with a little practice! She’s also super respectful with her feline brother and would be a great fit for a home with other pets. 🐱

Carmel is the perfect mix of loving, playful, and easygoing – making her a joy to have around. If you’re looking for a sweet, social, and intelligent pup who’ll fit right into your family, Carmel might just be the one for you! 🌟

Let me introduce you to one of our newest residents, Cash...

Cash is a sweet, gentle Huntaway Alshaian Cross, approximately 2 years old, with a heart full of love and a spirit that refuses to give up. Despite having had a tough start in life, Cash is slowly but surely on the road to recovery. He's a little underweight right now, but thanks to his dedicated foster family, he's getting the care and attention he needs to regain his strength and put on some healthy pounds.

Cash may have faced hardships, but those experiences haven’t dampened his loving nature. He’s an affectionate dog who craves human connection, and with the right family, he’s sure to blossom into the loyal companion he was always meant to be.

Remember that BBQ we were looking to buy? We are so thankful to the team at Tree Walkers... not only are they Purr Sponsor, and walk dogs a number of times a week, but they donated this beauty just in time for our Xmas volunteer/foster/sponsor event.

The winners have been drawn, the prizes have all been collected and we are SUPER excited to congratulate Ella, Christine and Nicky who were the 3 winners of our MEGA christmas raffle.

Looking to add a puppy to your family, Bonnie, Maggie, Jock, Rory and Lilah are 11 week beardie cross puppies who are currently in foster and looking for a furrever home...

Bonnie - Very playful little girl who loves to follow the kids around! She's very gentle and polite when asking for cuddles and loves her foster daddy. Bonnie loves the sprinkler and water very much too!

Jock - Confident in his own skin, but sooooo laid back in personality... Jock is very independent and can often be found laxing out under the trees, thoughtfully watching his siblings run around or off exploring happily doing his own thing.

Maggie - A little shy at first but once she knows she can trust you she is full of cuddles and kisses. Maggie likes to chat and will often answer you when you talk to her with a very polite "ruff"

Lilah - A very observant little girl who will happily sit and watch carefully before deciding the best way to join in play/cuddles. Not shy, just considered and laid back! She's super playful and likes to explore, especially with the kids nearby!

Rory - The snuggle muffin of the litter, loves to sit in his foster mummas lap and have belly rubs. When he's finished cuddling, he loves to explore and play rough and tumble with his siblings!

Meet Nala, Nala is approximately 9 months and is a female Staffy Cross, Brindle colour. Nala is still building her confidence but blossoms into an affectionate snuggle buddy once she feels safe. This sweet girl walks well on a lead and is fully toilet trained and is ready to find a loving home where she can continue to grow and work on her recall skills. She is untested with cats, so a cat-free home or careful introductions would be ideal. If you're looking for a loyal friend to share your life with, Nala just might be the perfect match!
