Looking for the purrfect match this Valentine’s Day? We’re hosting a special Cat & Kitten Matchmaking Event!

To find your ideal feline companion, simply complete the form below. On February 14th, we’ll email you the profile of your perfect match based on your preferences. Then, join us at the shelter on Sunday, February 16th, to meet your match in person and hopefully bring them home!

Adoption fees are $200 for kittens and $150 for adult cats, which includes desexing, flea treatment, worming, vaccination, and a bag of food to help your new friend settle in.

Cats and Kittens! Thinking you want to add to your furr family, support a local volunteer based rescue and give a home to an animal in need... we have you sorted.

Adoption fees for kittens are $200 and cats (over 12 months) are $150. All cats and kittens come desexed, flea'd, wormed, vaccinated, and with a bag of food.

What an awesome adoption morning!

We had 2 kittens go to their Furrever home and 1 put on hold for after their desex.

3 puppies go on trial during the week, and a puppy and a dog are going on trial this afternoon. Thank you to everyone for their support ❤️

Big congratulations to Carmel, now Jazz, who has found her perfect match with Syd and Annie! Jazz was on her best behaviour and is settling in wonderfully. 🎉

Rubix and his sisters, Candy and Duchess, are also off to their new homes where they'll be showered with love and attention. 💖

🐾 Kittens, Kittens, Kittens! 🐾

We’ve got a paw-some selection of kittens here at Ruahine Animal Rescue, and they’re almost ready to find their furrever homes! 🐱❤️ A number of our kittens will be desexed and looking for loving families in the next couple of weeks.

Meet Rubix, Candy, and Dutchess—just a few of the cuties who’ll be available soon. And don’t worry, there are many more to come! 🐾

Most of the kittens are currently in foster care, but we have several in the shelter, too. As part of our 1st birthday celebrations we were treated to some amazing homemade cakes, and we just have to give a big shoutout to the talented volunteers who made them! 🎂

A Huge Thank You to...

🍰 Heather and Gail, our cupcake extraordinaires, who created the most delightful Human Cake, it was a chocolate overload and it was absolutely delicious! Thank you for your creativity and generosity. 💕

🐾 Rhys from Tree Walkers for making a one-of-a-kind Dog Cake for our furry friends! It was packed with dog roll, dog meat, mashed potatoes, and treats – and they all loved it! 🐕🎉

Everyone thoroughly enjoyed these tasty treats, and we couldn’t be more grateful for your kindness and talent. You’ve made our day so much sweeter (literally)! 🧁✨

Looking to add a puppy to your family in 2025? Maggie, Bonnie, Jock, Lilah and Rory could just be the puppies you have been looking for!

These 12 week Beardie cross puppies are currently in foster and looking for a Furrever home to call their own. According to their foster mum they are "super chill and loving, and would make a great addition to any home".

Tomorrow (Friday 3rd January) between 2.15 and 3pm the "fabulous five" are available for a meet and greet at the shelter as they are coming in for a vet visit.
