We are pleased to welcome Laura Balzer to Wairoa for the next four months. Laura has a certificate in Animal Physiotherapy from Academy of Natural Healing and Physiotherapy, Germany. She has worked as a Physiotherapist in Germany, and spent time in NZ in Nelson learning more bodywork techniques. She is available for consults on both dogs and horses (and has done some work on cats!)

This year has been a bit of a roller coaster for us, the last few months our workload has increased and we have been short staffed. Additionally a computer update which messed a few things up, and having to swap from copper lines which has mucked up our phone system providing quite a lot of frustration at times! We would like to thank all those clients who have dealt with us calmly and waited patiently when we had unexpected emergencies come in (last few days before Xmas was especially full on). We really appreciate you! Additionally we wouldn't have made it without our fantastic staff who have gone above and beyond on multiple occasions even though they have had family waiting for them to get home. We have also had help from Amy Steed and her family (coming in on weekends to clean and feed kittens) and also fostering two kittens and a puppy over Labour Weekend (amazing!), more recently we have had Lexi Hale coming in during the week to volunteer and help out with anything and everything with a smile. From us to all our clients - best wishes for 2025 and we look forward to seeing you for routine appointments.

Over the last few months we have been building our 'maternity' ward for our mumma cats and kittens that come in to give them more space and freedom to play. Fundraising has come from the chicken sales for the materials and we have finally got it finished enough for its first occupants. The mummas have their own windowsill to sit on (time out from baby demands) and there is plenty of space for kittens to play. Still a few things to finish off but we had a mumma needing it so will do that later. Thankyou to all those that have brought chickens through us (will be some more next week ;) ) Now we need a name for the room?
