What a wonderful conference has just wrapped up at Te Pae in Christchurch! We were privileged to have Dr James Crabtree in the Equine Reproduction stream. James is a director at Equine Reproductive Services UK and gave us lots of tips on the latest on ET, foaling management and breeding the problem mare.

This cute little button popped out late last year. A foal for our own family ❤️ If horses could look surprised Alle (Henton Alegria) nailed the expression when she gave birth to a palomino! My 9yo Emilia is lucky enough to be training this wee girl with Vanessa Randell's expert instruction. As you can see by the photos of her parents she will hopefully have an eventing future. Yesterday she was entered in the eventing section of the NZ Warmblood foal tour and received a merit grade ❤️ She is by Ikarus GF and out of Henton Alegria. Named Ice Angel to acknowledge her colour, temperament and both of her parents initials 🧊 😇 🦄

Lots of beautiful foals to catch up on. This is "Smyle" by Wyoming out of Giggle. Wyoming is Jody Harstone's award winning Whisper sire available via frozen semen. Giggle is a beautiful TB cross by NZ Sport horse Uprising. Her dam is Jolly Respectful, a NZ thoroughbred and via her dam-sire line Giggle is related to Australia's most famous racehorse Winx!

Vet Nurse Appreciation Week. Where would we be without the wonderful Kathryn Ralph (Kat). We ate so grateful for all your hard work, your integrity, initiative, and support through the highs and lows! Kat's skills help us to care for the newborn foals and breeding requirements of mares at Blue Blood Equine and keep the cogs turning at Worm-Ed where we have had a massive few months running our drench resistance trial. I'm so grateful to have you as my right hand woman with a shared passion to maintain high standards in both sides of our practice. Thanks also for holding down the fort while I presented at Equifest (hence my belated gratitude post) ❤️🙏😘

Our first foal finally! This we c**t is by Conthargos out of Wallingford Emillia. Emilia is by Emillion VDL and half sister to Cassina Dior who is currently representing New Zealand in Europe ridden by Phillip Steiner. He was conceived here last year for proud owner Gareth Dunkerley.
