Good Morning. Whose dog is like this?
A site for people interested in information on positive dog training and creating the best possible relationship with their dog.
Good Morning. Whose dog is like this?
This was not written by me but absolutely expresses my thoughts. Please sign the petition if you love dogs and agree.
I wanted to shed some light on a concerning issue in dog training that we should all be aware of the detrimental use of shock collars. 🐶⚡️
Using shock collars as a training tool can have severe negative effects on dogs' emotions and behavior. Numerous studies have shown that these devices can cause fear, anxiety, and aggression in dogs, leading to long-term behavioral issues. It's important for us to recognize the potential harm they can inflict on our beloved furry friends.
That's why I want to draw your attention to a petition raised by Kylie Kelly, which calls for a ban on the use of shock collars in New Zealand. 🚫🔌 By signing this petition (link below), we can contribute to the growing movement and urge Parliament to take action. The more support we gather, the greater the interest and consideration by our ministers. Let's make our voices heard and stand up against the use of these harmful devices.
You may be aware that a similar bill was past in the UK recently. New Zealand leads the way in animal welfare legislation, but sadly we are falling behind in this regard.

Together, we can make a difference in ensuring the well-being and humane treatment of our four-legged companions. 🐾 Let's advocate for positive training methods that promote trust, understanding, and a healthy bond between dogs and their owners.
Feel free to share this post with any dog owners you know that will be happy to support this petition.
Petitions are addressed to the House of Representatives and ask that the House do something about a policy or law, or put right a local or private concern.
Love working with wee Charlie he is so responsive. Using choice and rewarding the correct choice means he learns very quickly what gets him the treats. Smart puppy!! He is a quick learner but remember that dogs that learn desirable things fast also learn undesirable behaviors fast as well
Most puppies will not resource guard but every now and then I see a young puppy that guards food or toys or places - like beds from other dogs. It is important to recognise this and to get on to it early or it can lead to further problems in later life. It may even increase the guarding to specia
Working with this little cutie today. Floss's mum has done a brilliant job of training her despite having 2year old and 8 month old toddlers. Well done!! It can be done with just a bit of consistent daily training each day.
I learn so much from dogs how about you?
Hope youve all had a great weekend
A bit of fun to brighten your day
Interesting article on how to help you dog if they are choking.

Let's face it we'd all like a dog that we could enjoy at home as well as out and about, one that listens, is focused and easy to be with without the struggles of pulling or over excitement. But how do we get that? Why when we are training, do we seem to be getting nowhere at all? Well the number
I am totally appalled and disappointed that DogsNZ (formally NZ Kennel Club) are NOT opposing the use of prong and pinch collars for use in NZ nor are they opposing docking of tails.
If this is their stance I will not have anything to do with them in any way.
There are many scientifically proven kind methods to deal with problem dogs and this is certainly not one of them.

Purple poppy:The purple poppy is often worn to remember animals that have been victims of war. Animals like horses, dogs and pigeons were often drafted into the war effort, and those that wear the purple poppy feel their service should be seen as equal to that of human service.
Lets also remember them today
Happy Easter everyone
Something to think about
I can't take him to the beach for a walk because it annoys you and disturbs the vacation... I have no right to rent a house if I have a dog, nor can I take him on public transportation.
However, I can take it to the rubble to find you after an earthquake, in the woods after you got lost in the mountains and had no map or gps; under the snow because you took a detour forbidden off the track; in the water because despite the red flag you have entered the sea, and your life is in danger!
And finally ...
He is just a dog, but he or she will find you. And it will save you!!!
Dedicated to all who DO NOT love dogs!

6 MINUTES IS ALL IT TAKES FOR A DOG TO DIE IN A CAR! The weather doesn't have to be boiling hot for this to happen either – when it's 22°C outside, the inside of a car can easily reach 47°C within an hour. Some dog owners don't really understand what happens to a dog's body in overheating and heatstroke. Did you know If a dog's internal temperature goes above 41°C it is at risk of heatstroke, [which only 50% of dogs survive] Some breeds are more susceptible than others – large dogs, dogs with short faces such as bulldogs and boxers, and overweight or long-coated dogs are most at risk – but every dog has the potential to suffer from heatstroke.
On a hot day the temperature inside the car can reach 39°C in less than 5 minutes and in 30 minutes it can reach 49°C. Research shows that even cars in the shade with windows wound down don't effect the core temperature inside a car!
As most of us know dogs can do little more than pant to cool themselves down and in a hot car that is certainly not enough for them to cool themselves down. Tough Love is leaving your baby with the fur coat on at home with shade and water instead of bringing them with you on a hot summers day!
Apologies a recent post i shared is incorrect and false. I shoukd have researched the origins. Here are the true facts
A post shared thousands of times in Canada warns of dire consequences for the health of dogs if they are fed ice cubes. This is false. The Canadian Veterinary Medical Association told AFP that a few ice cubes are fine for healthy dogs.
Just a thought for today
Super fun training this little cuddly bear this morning. I love ❤ my job
Please take care over the holiday season that your puppies dont eat chocolate or other nasties for dogs. Xylitol which is in many childrens sweets as a sugar alternative is highly toxic to dogs. 🐕🐾❤
No shock November
Often clients tell me they know their or someone elses dog is happy because the dog's tail is wagging.
But it means arousal and that can take many forms. Here is some great info to help you recognize what dogs maybe trying to tell us.
It's so lovely to be able to walk our well socialized dogs off lead but not all dogs have had the same start in life. Often the dogs you see are rescues that kind souls have taken on. So here is some info to remember when out and about with your furry friend
Puppy classes are happening and this wee one comes along. This week we will be teaching mat work. Always great to have you puppy or dog go to a designated place. Use this when you are having a meal, when visitors arrive or you are going to a driends home. You can just take a blanket or bed and ask your dog to stay on their mat wherever you are.
