Today we are putting poison down to target the growing rabbit population. Please keep your dogs on a lead or in your vehicle for the next 3 weeks. If you see carrots lying around do not let your horses or dogs eat them.

The preparation work has started on our drive for sealing and it will be closed to public starting tomorrow 7.05.24 for about a week or so.

If you need feed, ( except for hay) place your order as usual and contact Rachel directly to organize pick up.

What a fantastic turn out last night at the 2nd of our summer series run in conjunction with Tessa Silcock - Harcourts Wanaka .
I cant thank the people enough who stepped up to help.
Pete Smalley and Jayne Davis for being our first aid officers. Pete also filled in for the last couple of classes as time keeper.
Ella Smalley for clearing the arena of poo at the end of the day.
Andrea Kendrick for your awesome time keeping and writer.
Kelly McLaren and Kate Hutchison for doing an awesome job picking up poles.
Lydia Beales and Jan for organizing and running the BBQ.
A special shout out to Tessa Silcock who has legs of steel helping young riders get around the course.

Although it was a hot day, there was some stunning rounds.

**Top Australian Clinician Coming to Grace Farms 15-17th February**
Are you looking to improve your biomechanics in the saddle to become a more effective rider? Do you aspire to train in a system that promotes rider and horse wellbeing? Do you want to improve your mindset to become a mentally stronger and centred competitor and/or rider?
FEI rider and international performance coach, Jacqui van Montfrans (aka “The Rider’s Coach”) is coming to New Zealand in February and offering clinics in North Canterbury and Wanaka.
Jacqui takes a holistic approach to coaching and training, drawing on her experiences as an FEI Rider,Trainer and Coach. She has represented Australia as a High Performance member of State and National Squads from 1986 - 2000, including being shortlisted for the 2000 Olympics, as well Australian National Dressage Selector 2012-2014. Alongside these accomplishments Jacqui remains current by engaging in regular AIS Coach Development initiatives, EA Professional Development trainings, and seeking PD opportunities in Europe with HP and expert Coaches.
Riders can expect to:
Receive expert teachings to help develop their mental strength training and body awareness
Learn how to employ the training scale and a deeper understanding of the basics
Develop timing, lightness and self-carriage in their own riding in order to develop the same in the horse
Train using a calmer, softer approach that promotes athlete and equine wellbeing

I was happy with Velvet although we made mistakes she is getting stronger and starting to feel more confident. I am loving the current training I am receiving and looking forward to building on this over the winter.

The highlight of the season was coming 4th in the south island Level 8 musical freestyle series and I am excited for next season .

Congratulations to Charlotte Thompson on her successful trip to the Christmas Cracker in Christchurch. Charlotte and Henry won the show hunter series, 5th in the 90cm show jumping and won 2 of her classes in the Saddle Hunter . WOW very proud of her!

Mean while at the dressage in Gore Heidi Kendrick became reserve champion young rider on Nysa Leon's Tyra. Well done Heidi and good luck for this weekend at Christchurch.

I was very pleased with my two horses. Berlin receiving a 1st and 2nd and only one test where he had a young horse moment. He is growing in confidence with every outing. Velvet ended up reserve Champion at Level 8. The warm up was better (she is suffering from separation anxiety from her buddy). Still not totally with me in the arena but lots better than the last competition. What a journey it is with new challenges around every corner, it certainly helps us grow and develop as riders.

I would like to thank the hard working Southland dressage committee for putting on such a friendly well run show. Smiles all around at the Central Lakes Equestrian Center dressage competition at Cromwell this weekend. Thank you to the organizing committee for such a fun, friendly and well run show. Its always one of my favorites.

I couldn't be more proud of my horses and riders. Velvet competing in her first level 8 test for 63.5% and won the overall musical trophy and my lovely young horse on his first trip in the float, first outing scored 70% at level 1 for 1st equal. A big thank you to Greg Smith for your guidance and training.

My riders I couldn't be more proud of all your hard work you have put in. A brief summary of the highs from the weekend, along with the ups are low moments which often aren't seen, but each one you have developed a tenacity to keep going and work through issues in this difficult sport. You are awesome!

It was a great weekend out at the SCNO kiwi rakes Premier league. I couldn't be more proud of my team with both Heidi Kendrick (level 3) and Jenny Kendall (level 6) winning their first tests. Well done girls!

I was super happy with my start to the season on Velvet (level 7) other than a few blips in the changes she stayed a lot more with me in the arena.

I would like to thank the show organizers and committee as well as the show sponsors in particular my level sponsors Custom Logics and Zilco. We couldn't do this sport without you.

I was super proud of my riders who competed this weekend Heidi Kendrick winning the Pony HI-points Shield and Jenny Kendall winning the Hack HI-points Shield. Both riders scored their personal bests Heidi at level 2 and Jenny at level 5.
Courtney Longman also achieve her personal best at level one and Claudia Brigitte Grieve returning to competing on Minnow rode for and 1st and 3rd place at level 2. Well done team👏👏

It was a fabulous start to our first jumping evening, with a lot of "way to cute" factor going on.
A huge shout out to Annabella Bruce for her help and humor, I couldn't have done it with out you. Thank you to Griffin equestrian for prizes and coming to our event. To the Mums and Dads who helped in the warm up area, cooking sausages and organizing carparking, putting up jumps. You guys rock!

I am super excited for the first of our jumping days (poles to 60cm) entries filled up very quickly.

Thank you to all of our equestrian community that have offered to help unfortunately due to the restrictions we are unable to accept your offer, hopefully this will change in the near future.

As our numbers are limited we ask that riders only bring one support person or spectator if necessary.

Our next jumping day is on the 8th of March entries will be open towards the end of the week (70cm to 1m)
