This lovely boy is Charlie. Charlie is a diabetic who was in for a glucose curve. A glucose curve is when we take hourly blood samples to assess how Charlie’s body is responding to his insulin that he gets twice daily.
Despite being poked by a needle every hour, Charlie remained friendly, cuddly and just the sweetest boy ever. Charlie’s bravery is so impressive and it’s a reminder to us just how special animals are, letting us put them in uncomfortable situations and still giving us trust and love, despite not being able to understand why we are doing the treatment 🥲
Here’s a cute video of Charlie enjoy a wee brush in between the uncomfy needle pokes!!

Do you throw sticks for your dog or let them chew sticks? 🐶 Let us help you think twice before you next pick up the stick!
This lovely dog pictured was playing fetch with a stick when she suddenly became quiet and vomited a bit of blood - her mum brought her straight down to us. After an examination, we administered some sedation so that we could look in her mouth and there we saw the end of the stick poking out. It had perforated into the soft tissue, next to her tongue. We were shocked when we saw how long the stick was after removing it! Luckily there was no damage to her oesophagus or larynx, this would could have been life threatening to her if it was the case.
After suturing the laceration that the stick had made, this girl went home happy and healthy!
The safest form of fetch is using a ball that is too large to get stuck in your dogs mouth. (Think larger than a tennis ball, if you have a big dog!) 🎾
