Ellie's Canine Rescue & Rehome will have a dual focus. A rescue and rehoming programme where Vicky and I want to help these people who can unfortunately no longer care for their dog any more, by accepting them for surrender and rehome (following desex, microchip, flea and worm) (with the exception of aggressive dogs).
Ellie’s Canine Rescue & Rescue is committed to reducing the number of animals finding themselves in the pound by preventing unwanted litters. If we can reach people before they have litters of unwanted puppies, then we can help. We want to focus on helping those who genuinely cannot afford to desex their dogs and do this for them. We will work with actual locals to find out who is in need, soup kitchens, maraes, etc. We are not here to judge at all, we have all been through tough times and desexing costs a lot of money to a family that is barely putting food on the table. We will help anyone no matter what their background, at the end of the day the priority is the dog.
We need help!
Running a rescue not only costs a lot of time but money to. Unfortunatley we do not have a wealthy benefactor funding our work and run off donations and fundraising, If you would like to contribute there are several ways.
If you have time and patience we are always needing Foster families for dogs we have come in. We do not have a Kennel or centralised base of operation, all dogs we rescue go to fosters it is these people make it all possible.
If you wold like to donate Money or dog medications details can be found here https://www.elliesk9rescue.com/get-involved or message us over Facebook and we can chat.
We are always in need of donations: Of for good quality food, Vet grade worming, flee treatments, Toys and Blankets for the dogs.
Thanks you so much for your support
What will it cost the owner?
Taking advantage of the last litter program is absolutely free, including mums desexing. Many of these people have zero extra dollars and cannot afford a koha, we want to help these people that need it the most with zero judgement.
Did you know that desexing not only stop unwanted litters but it also:
Spayed and neutered dogs and cats live longer, healthier lives.
Spaying female dogs and cats eliminates the possibility of uterine or ovarian cancer and greatly reduces the incidence of breast cancer.
Neutering male dogs and cats reduces the incidence of prostate cancer.
Neutered animals are less likely to roam and fight. https://www.brown.edu/Research/Colwill_Lab/CBP/spaynueter.htm
What are the options?
Although we review each case individually, there are possibilities of:
-Desex before litter
- If has a litter wait until at least 8 weeks old and weaned and surrender all pups to us and have mum desexed and returned or surrendered.
- Surrender pregnant mum
What do we do with the litter?
- We find them homes, provide flea and worming, cover the costs of vaccinations, microchipping and desexing at an appropriate age.
LIMITED SPOTS
We can't guarantee entry into this programme. Each case is determined on an individual basis. We do not judge anyone's personal circumstances, we just want to prevent unwanted litters. WE DO NOT HAVE KENNELS, we are relying on people to foster for us.
Nicole and Vicky both work and do all this work for nothing and we will desperately need help with finding fosters to care for the dog or pups, food, crates, and donations if we are to get this off the ground. We really feel like we can make a huge difference to these dogs and stop the cycle of unwanted litters, but we need help. Anything you can do help from spreading the word about what we do, to donating time, money or items would be gratefully appreciated.
Thanks
Nicole Doriguzzi and Vicky Hayward
