Great results from the small contingent of the WCOC Comp Team that attended the Kapiti DTC Champ Obedience Test this weekend! Donna and Tui 2nd in Beginners, Jenny and Annie 4th in Novice and Jenny and Star 2nd in Test A. Nice work team!

Stanley nailing the recall past the sausage! He even did it twice! Thanks Steph for capturing it, I never thought he’d do it! Ted on the other hand failed miserably 😂 must be the lab in the labradoodle!!!!

Last Wednesday night was the Christmas breakup for the WCOC Comp and RallyO Teams.

We combined the classes and everyone competed in the RallyO relay and had a go on the Agility course. Highlight of the night however was definitely the recall past the sausage (thanks to Karl and his culinary BBQ skills!). So much fun had by all!

Thanks for an awesome year Team! Have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year and see you all beginning of February 😍

So very very true ❤️🐾🐾

It’s easy to become fixated on shaping your dog into what you might consider the "perfect" companion. But don’t lose sight of the fact that they are already perfect just as they are—simply for being themselves.

Training and development are valuable for improving skills and addressing challenges, but these should always be approached as a way to strengthen your bond, not as a pursuit of flawlessness. Celebrate your dog’s individuality, quirks, and all the things that make them unique.

Work on smoothing the rough edges and refining behaviours, but remember: your dog doesn’t need to be perfect to be loved—they’re already perfect to you.

Simple exercise to work on an issue we get asked about a lot in domestic training - jumping up on owners or visitors at the door. Obviously, you can also do this with a knock at the door. The younger you start it the better, but as with any training, it’s never too late!

Wellington Canine held its yearly Obedience Champ Test out at the Upper Hutt club grounds this weekend. Highlight of the comp was definitely Pip and Mica getting second place in Beginners today! They are doing so well!

The rest of the team did training rounds amongst keeping the show running. Thanks so much to the Team who helped out at the show. The show was a brilliant success, very proud of our club!

Awesome day up at Wellington Canine at our Obedience Ribbon Trial today! Congratulations to all of our ribbon and certificate winners. There were some beautiful training rounds too! And for the first time in 3 years, it didn’t rain!

Special thanks to our awesome judges Neil Weeds and Jenny Burn!

Ted and Stanley did awesome work up in Hawera last weekend!

* Stanley qualified in all of his RallyO classes (2 x Excellent, 2 x Advanced)

*Ted qualified both Advanced and 1 x Excellent giving him his second RAE pair.

This was Stanley’s last comp in Excellent A, he now has his Rally Advanced Gold and Rally Excellent titles (needing 3 qualifying 100/100 certificates and getting SIX!) and from now on will join Ted in the top grade.

Great work boys, you both worked very hard ❤️

Belated results from the National Dog Training Assembly RallyO Competition in Christchurch at Labour Weekend:

A very successful NDTA for Ted and Stanley (and in the prelude show on Friday)!

Stanley qualified 100/100 in Excellent on Day 2 and then again on Day 4 so now has his RE title (with a spare qualification even!). He placed 2nd, 2nd, 3rd and 4th (at the prelude show) in Excellent A. He also qualified in 3/4 Advanced (his brain was a bit fried by the end of the last day!) and 4/4 Encore.

Ted qualified in all 4 Advanced and Encore shows with very consistent work. He tried so hard! Even in his Excellent tests he only just missed qualifying!

Both dogs came home with their RallyO Encore Gold titles.

Wellington Canine Obedience Club is holding its Obedience Ribbon Trial on 30th November at our own clubgrounds. All welcome, training rounds very welcome! We will be running 3 of the supplementary classes too. Check out the flyer attached!

Ted and Stanley competed in the North Canterbury RallyO double Champ Test this weekend and did an awesome job!

Stanley: 2 x Advanced and 2 x Encore qualifications and very close to another Excellent qualification today. Also placed 2nd and 3rd in Excellent A.

Ted: 1 x Advanced (trained the other) and 2 x Encore qualifications meaning he can apply for his Encore Gold title. He also just missed his Excellent today (99/100) thanks to his handler who paused at a sign when she shouldn’t have 🥲

Now to chill in ChCh and train ready for National Dog Training Assembly next weekend!

The WCOC RallyO team competed in two different Islands this weekend! The majority of the team competed at the Upper Hutt RallyO triple Champ Test. Results to follow, but here’s some photos of the team doing their awesome work!

Ted and Stanley represented the WCOC RallyO team this weekend at the Blenheim Champ Test. Highlights were Ted getting his first ever Advanced/Excellent pair (and both on 100/100) and Stanley getting his second Excellent certificate!

They also qualified in every Advanced and Encore, all on 100/100 except 2 (99,98)! Stanley won all of three of the Excellent A’s, Ted got 3rd in an Excellent B and Stanley 3rd in an Advanced B.

Bring on North Canterbury Champ Test on Saturday! Also heaps of luck to the other members of the team competing at the Upper Hutt RallyO Champ test this weekend too!

Three new titles for WCOC RallyO Team dogs recently!

Fern now has her RallyO Advanced Silver title (RAS)

Stanley now has his RallyO Advanced Silver title (RAS) and Encore Silver (ES) titles.
