Comfortable to play by herself or with our puppy. Lot's of energy. A little shy when outside but her confidence is growing. Toilet training is a work in progress.

Red collar (female) - Red has an amazing coat, she is sweet and loves cuddles. She's happy to follow you around and also to sleep outside in the sun on her own. She loves carrying her toys are as well as chasing balls with her individual style of leap running with her long legs. She is very lady like when she eats her meals.

Green collar (male) - He's friendly and good with kids. Quick learner too. Hasn't had any accidents since his first night here and has been toileting outdoors in an allocated area since. He's very playful and has been making use of all his new toys. He loves to cuddle and has been snuggling with our kids. He loves to give kisses as well. We've honestly been enjoying every minute of him!

Blue collar (male) - He is the perfect mix of playful and chill. Full of curiosity, he loves exploring new surroundings but is just as happy to settle down for a cuddle. Sociable and friendly, enjoys the company of other dogs, is great with young children, and is also perfectly content playing with his toys. He especially loves running around and fetching his favourite toys—he’s always ready for a game!

Pink collar (female) - She is an intelligent girl who's quickly picking up basic obedience. She's playful, yet cuddly and loves being around her people.

Yellow collar (female): A playful girl who enjoys the company of other dogs. She's confident and has loved exploring her new environment.

Jed is an active and goofy, 14 month old, male, Staffy x.

Good with dogs: Yes.
Good with cats: Yes.
Good with stock: Yes - ducks but plan to test on more farm animals.
Good with children: Yes.

Jed’s foster writes:

Jed is a lovely young active staffy. He enjoys pets and the comfort off a squishy dog bed.

He enjoys running, playing with toys and other dogs.

Jed likes pigs ears and learning new tricks and obedience skills.

Jed also likes the car and rides well in the back.

Jed is crate trained, knows sit and stay. Learning recall in all environments but is good in low distraction areas.
Toilet trained and has good house manners.

Jed is working on not barking at people and dogs at first meetings. Jed is doing really well with this. After the initial bark, he is then friends with dogs or people.

Jed is medium-high energy. He could do hikes if that was your thing or runs! But is equally happy with a good walk every day and a play.

If you are interested in adopting Jed and own your own home then please complete our adoption application form - https://airtable.com/apptS9QFkdVrQm2su/shrXmMrksf6Ci8dYQ

A $400 adoption fee applies to help us cover the costs of vaccinations, microchipping, desexing and flea/worm treatment.

While my siblings all head off on trial, i'm still waiting for my forever home...

Could you be my perfect family?

Oke's foster writes:

Oke is a loving, 11 week old, female, Staffy X.

Good with dogs: Yes.
Good with cats: Unknown.
Good with stock: Yes.
Good with children: Yes.

Oke had a tough start to life but has bounced back with s***k and determination.

She tries very hard to be friends with all the dogs in her pack and has been an absolute star at puppy meet and greets.

Oke takes playing very seriously and is learning to chase puppy tennis balls.

She has beautiful markings and is quite distinctive from the rest of her litter.

Oke is doing well with toilet training, but still tries to avoid wet grass. With consistent encouragement she will master this very quickly.

Oke is learning basic commands like sit and will offer a nose touch on cue.

She sleeps in a crate with her brother. Even though she still relies on puppy pads to get through the night, she is settled through until morning.

Oke is going to be a large dog and will reward consistent training and socialisation.

She is likely to be a medium energy dog who will be best suited to an active household.

If you are interested in adopting Oke and own your own home then please complete our adoption application form - https://airtable.com/apptS9QFkdVrQm2su/shrXmMrksf6Ci8dYQ

A massive THANK YOU to Menz and the wonderful team behind 'Santa Paws: Bringing Christmas to the Animal Rescues of Wellington,' who came and visited us on Saturday.

Oke, Turner and Rex loved their Schmako treats! We are super excited to distribute the extra packets to our rescue dogs who couldn't make it on the day.

We really appreciate your generosity!

Otto is an affectionate, 3.5 year old, male, Miniature Poodle.

Good with dogs: Yes.
Good with cats: Yes.
Good with stock: Unknown.
Good with children: Yes.

Otto’s foster writes:

Otto is a cuddly, affectionate sweet boy who will quickly become your new shadow! He loves following you around and adores your company. Otto is a gentle soul who is happy to cuddle up beside you wherever you are.

Otto is toilet trained and sleeps easily through the night in his bed as he is not crate trained. He loves car rides and will happily fall asleep as soon as he jumps in the car! He is good on his lead and loves his walks. He loves playing with his toys when he’s got some built up energy!

He loves people and is good with other dogs, sometimes just giving them a sniff and going on about his day. He’s a curious cutie who loves sniffing people on his walks and loves making new friends. Otto needs a bit of work on some of his basic commands (he knows how to sit but finds it difficult when out on walks). He is a fast learner so I have no doubt that with a bit of work he will get there!

Otto is a low energy dog who will happily curl up next to you while working from home. As long as he gets a walk or two in he’s happy to chill out with you!

Otto would suit a loving home where someone is at home all day as he doesn’t like being left alone, he would do well having another dog around to keep him company.

Apollo is a loyal, 12 month old, male, Bearded Collie X Australian Cattle Dog X Huntaway.

Good with dogs: Yes.
Good with cats: Yes.
Good with stock: Unknown.
Good with children: Yes.

Apollo’s foster writes:

Meet Apollo – a devoted, soft-hearted boy who loves spending time with his people. Whether he’s curled up at your feet or out on an adventure, he’s happiest when by your side.

Apollo enjoys playing fetch but will happily go occupy himself once the toy is put away. He loves exploring new environments, especially the beach, which he’s obsessed with. Nature is his happy place. He will engage in chase with dogs that don’t bark, although he has a low-contact play style. He likes to sniff but isn’t overly interested in other dogs, preferring to do his own thing. If growled or snapped at he will avoid that dog. He’s non-reactive and will seek you out if there’s conflict.

Apollo can be reserved when meeting new people but warms up quickly, taking cues from his owner. He adores kids and prefers interacting with them over adults. He has been known to sleep on children's beds in his previous home and is generally calm around cats, showing curiosity but no aggression.

Apollo’s personality and behavior is incredibly mild for a young dog. He explores the world with cautious curiosity and seeks reassurance from his owner when encountering new situations. He’s been successfully exposed to city life in Wellington, handling various sights and sounds with confidence. Apollo is always looking to expand his horizons.

Apollo is housetrained and knows how to use a dog door, although he prefers to go when out on walks. He walks nicely on a leash, enjoying plenty of sniffing along the way. He can be placed in a covered crate for a few minutes but needs further work on spending extended time in it. He knows basic commands but is still working on consistency. Once bonded with his person, he’s incredibly attached and will stay close, never venturing far without checking in.

Apollo would suit an active household where someone is around most of the time, ideally one that enjoys spending time in nature. He’d thrive in a home with children and, as a bonus, he could be a great fit for a dog-friendly workplace. Apollo may also benefit from living with an older dog to provide him guidance and support.

If you are interested in adopting Apollo and own your own home then please complete our adoption application form - https://airtable.com/apptS9QFkdVrQm2su/shrXmMrksf6Ci8dYQ

UPDATE: Adopted.

Scania is a beautiful, 22 month old, female, Rottweiler.

Good with dogs: Yes.
Good with cats: Yes.
Good with stock: Yes.
Good with children: Yes.

Scania's foster writes:

Scania is the best dog that we've ever fostered. She is a calm, sweet and so loving!

Scania has only been with us for two weeks and if we weren't moving overseas for work shortly, we would adopt her ourselves in a heartbeat. Scania likes to be near you and loves cuddles and play, but isn't overly needy or boisterous. She loves her walks, runs, hikes and frisbee, but also loves laying at your feet while you're curled up on the couch. Scania already has excellent recall, lead control, sitting, staying and is great at off lead walking. She is also eager to learn and so easy to train.

Scania is great with kids and easy to handle in busy public places. The only issue is how many people will stop and ask you to pat her because she is such a crowd favourite.

Scania would suit a family with older (8+ children), preferably in a situation where someone is at home with her as she loves being around her owners. She plays well with other dogs, seems fascinated by horses and livestock but won't chase them.

She'll be inundated with applications, but if you're lucky enough to adopt Scania, then you'll have absolutely hit the dog jackpot!

If you are interested in adopting Scania and own your own home then please complete our adoption application form - https://airtable.com/apptS9QFkdVrQm2su/shrXmMrksf6Ci8dYQ

UPDATE: Adopted.

Roxy is a sweet, 11 month old, female, Schnauzer X Poodle.

Good with dogs: Yes, but can be nervous.
Good with cats: Unknown.
Good with stock: Unknown.
Good with children: Yes.

Roxy's foster writes:

Roxy is a sweet, timid girl who takes time to trust new people.

She is gentle and affectionate, loving a scratch or belly rub.

Roxy is a shadow dog who just wants to be around her people. She will happily laze by your side while you work, or sunbathe nearby while you do your gardening or housework.

She is happy being left alone for periods of time and sleeps quietly in her crate. She is well crate trained, toilet trained and lead trained and does well in the car too.

She has some basic training that she has picked up quickly while in care, and due to her intelligent nature is a quick learner. She could use some further socialisation but is gaining comfort in new environments gradually. She is currently learning to play fetch and she has mastered the art of chasing the ball (or a bird) but is yet to reliably bring it back. She is improving with treats though!

She can be a little nervous of sudden movements or loud noises and may back away or run to a safe space such as her crate. She will need a calm, patient home who’s willing to continue helping her build confidence.

If you are interested in adopting Roxy and own your own home then please complete our adoption application form - https://airtable.com/apptS9QFkdVrQm2su/shrXmMrksf6Ci8dYQ
