Hi, I'm Flash!

I'm a handsome 9 year old, male, Miniature Pinscher X, weighing in at a neatly packaged 6kg (in case the photo tries to trick you).

Good with dogs: Yes.
Good with cats: Only the extremely confident, dog-savvy kind.
Small animals: Rabbits and birds are a bit too exciting - I have been known to chase.
Good with children: Definitely.
Able to be left alone: Yes.

My foster mum writes:

Flash is a well-mannered, affectionate little man who adores people. He'll happily follow you around the house and is quick to claim your lap the moment you sit down. He knowns basic obedience, is crate trained, and fully toilet trained.

He enjoys his walks and is an excellent car-ride companion - he curls up quietly on the passenger seat like a pro. Flash is dog social and has spent time at doggy day care, through he'd prefer not to share his home with high energy dogs or puppies at this stage of life.

He loves chasing a ball, though his "bring it back' skills are still a work in progress - he's more of a "look what I got!" kind of guy.

Flash will give an alert bark when someone enters the property, but this quickly turns into full butt-wiggles as he waits for pats from his new friend.

Flash is a little dog with a big heart, and he's ready to share it with someone special. If you're after a relaxed, cuddly, well-mannered companion who still enjoys some fun and adventure, Flash could be the perfect dog for you.

Please note: Flash has epilepsy, well managed with twice daily medication, and he hasn't had a seizure in 9 months. He's also on a strict diet (Black Hawk Weight Management) due to a history of pancreatitis.

If you are interested in adopting Flash and own your own home then please complete our adoption application form - https://airtable.com/apptS9QFkdVrQm2su/shrXmMrksf6Ci8dYQ

A $500 adoption fee applies.

Our adorable Huntaway X puppies are 6 weeks old and officially READY FOR SPONSORSHIP!

And as for what they’re mixed with… well, that’s the fun part! Maybe a bit of Heading dog, a sprinkle of Heeler, possibly some Rottie - honestly, we’re just throwing darts at the breed board. Whatever the mix, the result is pure cuteness.

Could you help one of this litter on their journey to a forever home?

Their foster's write:

Photo 1: SPONSORED - Blaze
He is a little explorer who takes everything in his stride. He's confident and loves discovering new things and having a snuggle right up in your neck. He is usually the first to come racing when called.

Photo 2: SPONSORED - Cub
His personality is blossoming into a sweet, fun-loving boy who zooms around with joy and throws the cutest cheeky side-eye. He's such a beautiful happy go lucky pup.

Photo 3: SPONSORED - Peanut
Her little personality is slowly peeking through as she grows. Currently she’s happiest curled up in her snuggly bed or snoozing on top of her brother. Her beautiful markings make her stand out from the crowd.

Photo 4: SPONSORED - Moose
He is a sweet little boy, who loves to be held and cuddled. He is happy exploring at his own pace and at 5 weeks was already letting us know when he wanted to go outside to toilet.

Photo 5: Pink Collar (female) -
She is the most confident, outgoing puppy. She loves playing with our large Great Dane X and is constantly exploring.

Photo 6: SPONSORED - Moth
She is a very sweet girl. She loves soft toys and will happily play on her own. She showed interest in our big Dane X boy, but is still growing her confidence. She loves to be cuddled.

Photo 7: Green Collar (female) -
She is a confident, friendly puppy who loves company. She enjoyed playing with our Great Dane X and was always playing energetically with her littermates. She will explore and play on her own for short periods, but prefers to be busy with company. She has a fantastic appetite and will come for her food!

Hi everyone! It’s me - the puppy who had the big hernia fixed 10 days ago. I’m feeling so much better now, and the vet says my wound is healing really well!

I just wanted to give the biggest tail wag and say thank you to everyone who donated to help with my operation. It means the world to me.

If you haven’t donated yet and would like to, we’re only $59 away from covering my whole bill. Here’s the link to my Givealittle page: https://givealittle.co.nz/cause/rally-for-a-rescue-pup-we-need-your-help

Thank you for helping me feel happy and healthy again! 🐾

It’s Whisky Wednesday, so it’s time for an update on our beautiful girl!

Whisky’s fur is slowly starting to grow back, with the most noticeable improvement along her back. She’s also absolutely loving her new diet from Go Raw Pet Food NZ - so much so that our biggest challenge now is slowing her down at mealtimes! She’s already using a slow-feeder bowl, and we’re planning to freeze some meals or serve them in smaller portions to help her pace herself even more.

We’ve also noticed an overall boost in her energy levels. She’s brighter, more engaged, and truly enjoying life again. Outings with her foster are another daily highlight, and she happily soaks up every bit of attention - and all the snuggles at home.

Seeing her begin to heal is a wonderful sign that the raw diet is helping, and we’re excited to keep sharing her progress with you.

If you are interested in Whisky's current feeding plan, please see below:

Morning:
- 300g Veal Tongue & Spleen Roll.
- 1 × Salmon Roe Cube.
- 50ml Probiotic.
- Raw Bone (every 2–3 days).

Evening:
- 300g Veal Tongue & Spleen Roll.
- 1 × Wild Organ Cube.
- 1 × Salmon Roe Cube.

For this first month, Whisky will receive extra Salmon Roe - one cube in the morning and one in the evening - for added anti-inflammatory support.

Thank you again to Go Raw Pet Food NZ for supporting Whisky's raw food journey!

On the 11th of October, we hosted our final Community Dog & Cat Food Giveaway of the year in Masterton - and it was an incredible success. In under two hours, we distributed 365kg of food, microchipped 17 dogs and cats, and provided flea and worm treatments to many more.

None of this would have been possible without the generous donations from Homegrown Butcher, Deli & Pantry and Greytown Butchery. We are truly grateful for their support!

Because the need for this service continues to grow - especially with the cost of living pressures around Christmas - we’ve decided to hold ONE FOR MORE GIVEAWAY EVENT BEFORE 2026.

If you live in or around Featherston, South Wairarapa, we’d love to see you at Cherry Tree Park this Sunday, 7 December, from 11AM to 1PM.

Come see us for FREE microchips, dog food, cat food, and a few extra goodies.

HOPE FOR SPOT: URGENT HELP NEEDED FOR SURGERY COSTS!

On November 7th, sweet Spot was brought into the care of Chance 4 Change after being rescued from the pound. At 12 years of age, she had never been spayed. During what was meant to be a routine spay on 27/11/25, vets discovered a mammary tumour. The news was heartbreaking - but we’re grateful it was found in time, as it wasn’t small.

Despite her age, Spot is full of joy. She’s active, bright, and loves every moment of life. Faced with the difficult choices of doing nothing, euthanasia, or surgical removal, we chose to fight for her and give her the chance she deserves.

Spot has now been spayed and had her tumour removed, but we urgently need help to cover her surgery bill of $978.20.

If you’re able to contribute - no matter the amount - you'll be giving Spot the gift of more happy days ahead. And if you’re unable to donate, a simple share can help more than you know - https://givealittle.co.nz/cause/hope-for-spot-urgent-help-needed-for-surgery-costs

Thank you for opening your heart to our beautiful girl.

🚨 Beware of Algae Alert! 🚨

Toxic algae can be fatal to our furry friends. This is especially dangerous to dogs, who like the smell and taste of algal mats.

Our most popular swimming spots are monitored regularly, but it’s important to know what toxic algae looks like and when it is most harmful so you can check for toxic algal blooms before letting your dog near the water:
💧 Toxic algae occurs as weather dries and water temperatures warm.
💧 Dogs are most at risk to toxic algae poisoning as they like the smell and taste. A small amount, the size of a 50 cent piece, can be enough to kill a dog.
💧 In rivers, toxic algae grows on rocks in the riverbed and forms leathery dark green or black mats. Dogs are most susceptible when mats wash up at the river edges.
💧 Toxic algae mats often have air bubbles on their surface in the middle of the day. As they dry out they can become light brown in colour, and are distinctive for their deep earthy or musty smell.
There are two important things you should do:
💧 Always wait 48 hours after heavy rain before you let your dog near the water, and be sure to know how to spot toxic algal blooms.

If you're near the Hutt River, stay informed below:

A massive THANK YOU to everyone who donated towards Kenya’s entropion surgery!

We’re thrilled to share that her procedure was successfully completed yesterday.

Although both eyes were more severe than initially expected - one grade 2 and one grade 3 - we were incredibly grateful that this didn’t affect the original quoted price. Thanks to your generosity, we were fortunate to cover the entire bill.

Kenya is now resting comfortably in her foster home, soaking up all the TLC she deserves.

A special shout-out to Corporate Cleaners, whose generous contribution covered a significant portion of this surgical invoice. We couldn’t have done this without you. ❤️
