Oreo is a loving, 6 month old, male, German Short Haired Pointer X.

Oreo’s foster writes:

Oreo is a sweet and fun pup. He loves his toys, playing fetch, running around the garden and supervising whatever you are doing. He takes a few minutes to warm up to new people and dogs, but once he knows you he wants to be your best friend coming up for snuggles and pats.

Oreo is very chill at home. He enjoys his toys and will absolutely play with you whenever you’re up for it, but if you’re busy he is also happy to chew on his toys or take a nap nearby. He is toilet trained and will go to the door to let you know when he needs to go out. He is crate trained and sleeps through the night in his crate without complaint. He is a smart cookie and despite a lack of early training he has easily picked up “sit” and “down”, waits until you say ok at mealtimes and is eager to learn more, especially if there are treats involved!

He has also been great with our kids, seeking them out for a game of fetch or tug of war or happily participating in whatever they are doing, whether that means laying down to read a story or dressing him up in a tutu to put on a show. He just loves being included and part of family life.

Out in the wider world Oreo is a bit more hesitant and nervous. He hasn’t had much exposure outside of a backyard until recently, so new things can be a little scary for him. He is working hard on socialization and exposure to new sights and sounds with his foster family and making vast improvements every day. He loves going on walks now and gets very excited when he sees his harness come out, but can still get overwhelmed with all the people, cars and other dogs found out on the street. Although he is making improvements daily, he will need an owner who is ready to support him as he continues to learn the world isn’t so big and scary.

With a little support as he learns the ropes Oreo is going to make a lovely doggy companion. He is loyal and snuggly and energetic to play and go for walks or runs when you want to but laid back enough to enjoy his down time too.

Update on Coco - our stunning 2½ year old, female, Labrador x Staffy.

We really wanted to share an update on the very lovable Coco and let you know about the amazing progress she is making with her training.

Now that she is settled and content in her foster home she has shown how super trainable and eager to please she really is.

She has learned how to walk to heel on the lead, enjoying a quiet outing where she can say hello to calm dogs and her absolute favourite thing - people - adults, kids, she doesn't mind, she loves them all! After her morning walk she is very happy to just chill at your feet or quietly keep you company as you get jobs done. She is surprisingly low energy for her breed and size and is a champion snoozer!

She has learned to stay away from the fenceline at the foster's lifestyle block and prefers to stay close to her person - so that she doesn't miss out on any affection that might be coming her way! Now that she has bonded with her foster and other dogs, she is not interested in escaping and her Houdini skills have been packed away! Her recall around the large property is excellent.

In the home she has always shown impeccable manners and respect but has also now mastered 'place' and will immediately go to her bed and stay there until released. It was very easy to teach her boundaries in the home, she knows not to go into the bedrooms and she stays off the furniture. After her evening meal she slips into a coma in front of the fire until bedtime. About 9pm she will put herself to bed in her crate where she sleeps through without a peep. A couple of hours in her crate during the day is ok with her too.

Travelling is easy with Coco - she just sits quietly on the back seat enjoying the view. There are no signs of her being a barker, she doesn't chew anything inappropriate or dig the garden.

She is now super chilled around the three dogs she lives with but is still working on sharing toys with dogs she does not know so a home where she is the only dog is probably a better fit.

If you are looking for a quiet, smart, super affectionate and respectful companion, Coco ticks all the boxes. Come and meet her and I guarantee she will melt your heart.

About Me:
You’re imagining the world’s cutest dog… and you’re right - that’s me, Bruno! I can’t post a photo because I’d literally break the internet with my cuteness, so you’ll just have to take my word for it. Spoiler alert: I’m adorable.

I’m the ultimate combo of cheeky, cuddly, and charming. I LOVE zooming around the beach, showing off my toys (sharing is a work in progress, okay?), and hanging out with my doggy friends. When I’m not busy having fun, I’m a professional snuggler - I love making new human friends on my walks and soaking up all the cuddles I can get.

Oh, and did I mention my long, model-like legs, chiseled face, and shiny coat? Basically, I’m the full package.

I’m still learning my basic commands, so I’m looking for a patient, kind-hearted human who can help me polish my skills. I’m super smart and love making my humans proud! I’d do best with someone home during the day because I adore company or with a family who already have another dog. While the crate isn’t my favourite place in the world, I’m working on it and can handle being alone for short periods.

What a Day at WineDogs!

We had an absolute blast at WineDogs on the 26th of October! A massive THANK YOU to the wonderful team at Luna Estate for hosting us - it was such a fun day filled with sunshine, music, and lots of puppy cuddles.

And in even more exciting news… Ruby has found her forever home!

Hi, I'm Bailey! - a handsome, 11 week old, Staffy X.

I’m a confident boy who absolutely loves being around my humans - cuddles are my favourite thing! I also adore playing with other dogs, big or small, and I’m told I’m quite the delight to have around.

My training is going really well (apparently I’m “food motivated” - I just call it loving snacks). I settle into my crate nicely with my siblings and sleep right through the night.

I love joining my foster family on adventures - coffee runs, hardware shop visits, or anywhere dogs are welcome. I’m also a total pro at puppy cuddle events (I take my job of spreading joy very seriously!).

When I’m not snuggling or exploring, you’ll probably find me zooming happily around the garden with my adorable little run - it always makes my humans laugh!

Now I’m ready to find my forever home… could that be with you?

Tank wants to send a huge THANK YOU to the amazing team at PetStock Upper Hutt for hosting our adoption event today!

Not only did they open their doors to our rescue dogs, but they also donated a trolley full of food and treats to keep our pups' bellies full.

Bicky Update:

Over the long weekend, Bicky’s owner made the difficult decision to surrender her into our care so she could receive the veterinary treatment she needed. We’re relieved to share that her fever has now broken, and her mammary glands are showing improvement. She’s had blood tests done and has started a second antibiotic to support her recovery.

Bicky is now resting comfortably and soaking up plenty of love and cuddles from her foster mum.

FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME REQUIRED!

Hi, I’m Coco - a sweet, gentle girl with a very big heart. I’m told I’m “as polite as they come,” and I do love making my people happy. I’m quiet, well-behaved in the house, and my favourite thing in the world is being close to you. I’ll happily follow you around - your loyal little shadow and best friend.

Right now, I'M LOOKING FOR A NEW FOSTER HOME BECAUSE MY LOVELY FOSTER FAMILY IS MOVING HOUSE. BUT IF YOU'RE THINKING ABOUT ADOPTING ME... WELL, THAT WOULD BE EVEN MORE WONDERFUL!

I’m currently living with other dogs, but I can be dominant and it takes me some time to settle around new dog friends. I can enjoy their company once we’ve built a relationship, but I’d really love to be the only pet in my forever home, where I can relax and soak up all the love (and snacks!) for myself.

I’m a clever girl and love learning new things, especially when there are treats involved! I’m working hard on my lead manners and doing really well, though I’ll admit - if I spot a duck or something small and fluffy, I get very interested. So, I’ll need a confident human who can keep me focused and continue my training.

Oh, and did I mention? I’ve figured out how to open sliding doors and even tested my jumping skills - what can I say, I’m smart! That’s why I’ll need a secure, 1.8 m fenced section to keep me safe.

I’m toilet trained, crate trained, and sleep soundly in my crate at night. I’m also happy to relax there for a few hours during the day if needed. After a nice walk, I’m more than happy to curl up beside you (as close as possible!) for a good nap. I’ve got a pretty low energy level overall - I love a little adventure, but I’m also a big fan of snuggles and quiet time.

What I’m really dreaming of is a home filled with love - someone who’s around for part of the day and wants a loyal companion by their side. If you give me a chance, I promise to love you with my whole heart and be the best friend you could ever ask for.
