Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them"

Look who made an appearance at reception today😍

Miss Coco is now 16 years old, and likes to spend her days snoozing, or sitting on the back of the couch loudly making her opinions known to passersby on the street 🤭
She's doing as best she can for her age, both her hearing and eyesight are declining, she has arthritis and renal failure. We manage her arthritis with both Beransa and Synovan, and her renal faillure with Hills Science Diet k/d.
Overall she's a happy wee dog for her age and stage she loves nothing more than to snuggle up close to her people 💖

Absolutely delighted to see this beautiful girl walk through our doors today with her wiggly bum and waggy tail!😍
Storm came to us a couple of weeks ago for her vaccination and was a happy healthy dog. Within 2 days she was at WAHVC off food and was diagnosed with Acute Haemorrhagic Diarrhea Syndrome.
Over the next 5 days between us and WAHVC she had 24 hour care to try and get her back to full health.
Day 3 sepsis set in, fortunately our nursing team were monitoring her vitals so frequently that they immediately noticed the shift in her temperature and swiftly began IV antibiotics. It was a bit touch and go for a few days, but Storm did us proud and fought with everything had.
The cause of AHDS is always a big unknown, most cases improve with fluids and hospital care. Storm is one of the worst cases we've ever seen, and we are beyond happy with the result- she's a very lucky girl to have such an incredible family to love her and who took such quick action as soon as she became unwell.
Storm you'll have a piece of our hearts always 💖

With Easter right around the corner, we thought it might be a good time for an Easter safety refresher! 🐣

Chocolate easter eggs are a common staple during Easter celebrations, chocolate (especially dark chocolate), is extremely toxic to our furry friends. If you suspect your pet may have gotten into the easter supply, call us immediately during our open hours, or call the Wellington After Hours Vet Clinic on 044737545.

Other Easter risks may include:

▪️Plastic eggs, decorations, or foil wrappers, which creates the possibility of a blockage.
▪️Hot cross buns - these yummy treats usually contain many raisins, sultanas, or chocolate chips, all very toxic if ingested.
▪️Easter lunch toxins including onion, garlic, alcohol, grapes, stone fruits, avocado, cooked bones, and many more toxic ingredients (best to avoid feeding any scraps from our plates).
▪️Xylitol - this is a common ingredient in many sweets, and is very toxic if ingested.
▪️Flowers - It is common to decorate your space with beautiful flowers, but it is important to choose safe plants. For example, lilies are extremely toxic, and should be avoided completely.

We hope you all enjoy your Easter festivities for those who celebrate, and we hope this information helps keep your beloved pets safe during all the fun! 💛🐥

The beautiful Custard came to see us last week for a spey, and in turn stole our hearts with her sweet nature 🥰

Custard was particularly fond of one of our Vet Nurses, Emily! They became best buds very fast 💙

On the last slide, Custard can be seen enjoying a lovely head massage while drifting off to sleep in Emily's lap 🥹❤️

Spey recovery, or spa treatment!? 💖💅

Here at AMC, we like to ensure that all animals get to experience a calm and loving environment when they come to stay with us!

Miss you already Custard! 👋
