A super fun toddler program this morning!

We love seeing the kids confidence grow around the horses and a great way to build their coordination, communication and problem solving skills as they learn.

Only two more days before we go back to our regularly schedule term program! This holidays feels like it went so fast!

Did you know most zoo's clicker train their animals!? (Using positive reinforcement R+)

We took a group of our hard working helpers out to Wellington Zoo Te Nukuao to learn how a couple of their animals are trained.

We use R+ training with our horses so it was interesting to get to see how it can be used for animals like the Giraffes and tasmanian devils.
They trained similar behaviours like target and up onto a platform and other cooperative care skills (like putting their foot on a hoof block and going into a crate or a crush)

A great opportunity to ask questions, from how much tasmanian devils understand verbal cues, to how to keep a giraffe happy with enrichment and more.

A huge thank you to Wellington zoo for accommodating us, answering all our questions and showing us how you train. ❤️

Wishing a big happy birthday to Katana!!

The creator of Littleriver, we wouldn't be here without her hard work and passion. Not only creating the business and growing it to what it looks like now, but also for giving birth to a wonderful person who has helped make the business great (aka me 😉😂)

Always so thankful for the work she puts in and what an amazing community she has created.

We had a very fun (and hot) morning out at Hutt Valley jump day with Lexi and Summer.

This was their first show as a team and we are so proud of them. Lexi's pony Summer can get a little overwhelmed in certain situations so this was a bit of an experiment to see how they would do in this new environment.

With a pretty relaxed warm up they went in for a super clear round for their first class! Unfortunately they got a little lost in their jump off meaning they were eliminated.
Losing your way on course is a right of passage and everyone has to do it at least once!

They had another class down in show hunter, unfortunately though, due not having a ton of time before she was in the ring, they went in feeling a little unprepared and struggling to remember the course. Lexi made the decision to retire due to summer getting a little anxious which was a great choice.

So proud of them both, Lexi rode well and consistently put her pony first in every choice she made today.

A few of our riders came out to support the pair which is always nice to see.

Our last camp of the holidays comes to a close.
We had loads of fun, making the most of the warm weather while it's here.

From scavenger hunts, farrier visits, ba****ck, swimming and more, it was a great way to start finishing up the holidays. We had a great group of kids and the ponies were all so good (as always 😉)

First day of our Summer fun camp!

We have been super lucky to get great summer weather (would be hard to do a summer fun camp in the rain😅)

Our day consisted of obstacle course creation, before leading and riding through it. Creating a clay internal lower leg, rider exercises, washing ponies, swimming and so much other summer fun things!
