The fortnight in review 13-23 August 2024
🐺🐺🐺
Dog Training and Pack Walking in Wellington, NZ I love helping people understand their dogs and create stronger bonds through play and clear communication.

If you and your dog are struggling with 'problem' behaviours, or you just want to build a good relationship with your dog - I can help. My philosophy in training is that there is no 'one-size-fits-all' way to train a dog - each one is an individual and needs to be treated as such. The end goal is creating a happy and fulfilled dog.

Facebook is becoming an absolute burden to get information to people amongst advertising and bots, so i've started a blog on my website for sporadic news updates outside regular photos. Here's a post with a bit of an announcement attached.
Looking forward to starting a fresh pack off!

I'm kinda enjoying the balance that a bulldog and a hound bring to my life ☯️

30 July to 9 August 2024
Big couple of weeks with a couple of new dogs joining the packs after a couple of retirements.
First up Charlie the Pomeranian - don't let the cute face fool you, he's a cheeky little bu**er 😂
Next is May the Greyhound in the Tuesday pack. She's a sweet gentle wee thing that I've been working one on one with over the last few weeks to build her confidence and relationship with me. This week was her first week joining in with the pack and she aced it. Slow and steady 🤙

Yep, that's duck s**t 🤦♂️🤮
A lot of the consults I go to, the people have put fantastic foundations on the dog.
The dog knows all the basic obedience. But sometimes they just struggle to put the pieces together and take it from puppy school through to the real world. This may manifest as dog reactivity as it did in Otis the Labradoodle here. With a change in leash handling and some clearer communication from handler to dog, Otis was nailing the ability to see dogs in the street without singing the song of his people (bork bork).
If you want to enjoy hanging out with your dog again, get in touch.

Ok, so it's been a couple of weeks since my last pack photo update.... Whoops.
It's been a busy few weeks with some ups and downs.
We retired a couple of old boys this week; Stanley and Benji. Stan has been coming out with me since 2019 and Benji since early 2020. It's nice to say a final Goodbye to some old friends, but it's sad to see them go too.
We also said a very unexpected goodbye to Ben from the Wednesday pack who had a medical issue while on a walk with his family. A big personality gone way too soon. Rest in peace, Ben aka Benny Banana 🐺
On top of all this, I've been doing ~heaps~ of training consults with people and their dogs. Lots of them seem to be from recommendations from other people I've helped, so thanks a lot for that!
Anyway, here's a collection of photos from 11 June to 21 June 2024

Got two spots left.
Had a few sick days in the last couple of weeks so it's another fortnight in review post.
21 may to 31 may 2024
Hopefully that's all my sick leave for the year 🙃💀
"I have more than one dog at home, do I train them separately or together?"
The answer is; BOTH.
We start by teaching each dog the cues, behaviours and/or expectations that we have for them, on their own.
Then once all of the dogs have an understanding of these things, we bring them together and we practice those new behaviours in a group setting. Then we can start navigating the world as a pack.
You can make the behaviours as simple or as flashy as you like, as long as you're being fair and clear in your expectations of the dog.
This goes for having one dog, two dogs or 8+ dogs in your care.

When you're walking a pack of dogs in public, it can be expected that people will stop and take photos of you (Especially when your pack is this ridiculously good looking). Most of the time it's people trying to take low key photos on their phones. They think they're being really sneaky and secret, but they are actually so obvious 😂 what's much nicer is when people actually stop and want to engage with me and chat. Like Brent did on Wednesday last week. Was super nice to chat to him about the dogs and about his photography. And he even offered to send me the pics.
Shout out to Brent Higham of Warlock Photography for the pic. Looking forward to another chat the next time we cross paths 🤙🐺
