The freezer gave up working and so we moved it outside, where it became a roading hazard work site, an art storage facility, and a recycling station. An old jug started our water play activities, of pet bowl filling, cups of tea, and with the added effects of the handsoap and plastic pipes we blew buckets of bubbles. Scoobie had a good brush and fed hay in the sunshine too.

More parties enjoyed this weekend but only one super duper cake to share from yesterday's party as today's were going home to have cake. Was neat to hear our guests traveled in from Raumati today to party though.

The hammer and nail art turned into using carpentry tools later in the day. The carpentry turned into building structures and then into a boat to sail. Magic.

Another fun day exploring Trickle Creek. Sand play, mud play, hay play. Bunnies, sheep, guinea pig cuddles, fish, chickens all fed. We built a track from wooden planks and raced toy cars on them, cut hay with scissors because we can, and danced on the deck. We played the piano and sung our own songs. Awesomeness

We spent time today digging in the dirt and jumping from the tree stumps. Playing chase and rolling down the hill were fun too. Crazy glasses and giggles, art and story books. Counting pebbles in the old bath of stones and painting tree stumps just because we can.

We had to dress up super warm to brave the elements. The horses enjoyed a warm bucket feed, and music and instruments were high on our activity list as we made music to fill the hills of Horokiwi! Thanks to those who donated the fun games and the new musical instruments, we had fun exploring them.

We have been cutting hay bales with scissors for while this morning and while my mind wanders to other things on the farm I realise there's so much learning going on here. Great conversations between them about turntaking, cutting high and low, thick and thin strips, singing, counting, shaping the hay, filling containers and emptying them. All great mathematical skills. So we continue for however long it takes.

Our grand finale for our school holiday programmes was the arrival of Nalas babies Truffle, Spidey, Louis and an added surprise Guinness found later in the day hidden amongst the hay. We now have two chickens showing off their egg laying prowess in the art room feeling comfortable as we created around them.
Smores on the firepit, horse riding and so much more enjoyed today too. Huge thanks to all who joined our school holiday programmes and to those who follow us and leave fun comments along the way. You all rock. Back to term activities as of Monday, remember to book in some term time fun or your birthday parties. Thanks again.

We tied ribbons and butterflies to tree branches and then hung them in the fairy garden too. Marshmallows over the firepit, then horse riding for the afternoon.

More vege kebabs for the bunnies and guineapigs, Rock bunny jumped into the basket for his treats, Harry Potter bunny loved the toy that the kids made at the woodwork table today too. Toasting marshmallows is always fun. We wrote letters to the fairies and left them in their garden letterbox. We then went on an adventure, finding alphabet clues around the farm, which we wrote down to try and decipher a code we think the fairies were trying to tell us. Any help greatly received. (See last photo to assist us πŸ˜‰).

We party prepped for Peter's (our coworkers) 16th birthday. We baked a cake, made a card and wrapped a prezzie. We fed the pets and waited for him to arrive at lunchtime so we could party together πŸ₯³
We also built a hut under the table, rode horses, made drums from wood and created in the art room until the paint was used up! Happy birthday Peter.

We started our day with a poem by one of our attendees Annabelle Good (11) who read it out to her peers (and kindly shared below with her permission). Her poetry inspired our interest in origami and flax weaving play today. Enjoy.

Origami
Paper folds, elegant, sharp, patterned paper, vibrant shades dancing along the creases.
Mind empty, focused, blank.
The pinpoint of concentration,
Thoughts wander subconsciously, a constant review of recent memories, as slow as the sun rising, as fast as the breeze brushing.

Awesome huh

Our Story

β€œThere’s no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing”. We at Trickle Creek are proud to offer several rural experiences, child care options, horse riding lessons, school holiday programmes, or birthday parties catered to each child.

Whether it be horse riding on one of our three horses, playing with our bunny rabbits or guinea pigs, there are sheep to cuddle, dogs to play fetch with, chickens to feed and gold fish to watch - your child is guaranteed to have a blast. Louise is a qualified Early Childhood Teacher with 21 years of experience, and also holds a current First Aid certificate. She has a passion for teaching children about rural life and giving them the opportunity to play and learn about her animals. By using hands on exploration around Trickle Creek, each child gets the opporunity to try something new. There is a caravan filled to the brim with toys, craft supplies and other resources. The creek from which Trickle Creek got it’s name is ready to explore on all days - with ropes to hold onto, puddles to jump in and hills to climb.

Send us a message as bookings are essential, as we fill up fast. Message us now to get involved.
