We quite often share success stories for those horses who leave our barn that go on to have successful racing careers, however it is equally important to recognise those who whilst their succeses weren’t on the track, have found their purpose in other forms.

Unraced 3yo Bettors Delight filly KARMIC LASS departed Keast Racing at the beginning of March and headed to well known rehoming horsewoman Michelle Morrison’s to start her education under saddle. Not even 1 month later (30 days exactly!) she has been sashed Champion Led Youngstock at the 2024 Straith Taieri A&P Show for her new owner 🏅

We cannot thank Michelle enough for taking on ‘Annie’ and finding her an amazing life after racing❣️

🔵🔴 January Wrap Up 🔵🔴

🐎 NETRA (Art Major - Neverbettor): trialled impressively early in the month, followed that up with a gritty debut at Ashburton on the 16th.
Sold and will continue her career in Victoria.

🐎 PREMIER (Always B Miki - Maloo): 2023 NZB Standardbred Auckland purchase stepped out at the workouts and subsequently qualified on the 17th at Rangiora.
Exciting horse who we look forward to getting to the races.

🐎 OHOKA NICO (Sweet Lou - Albuquerque): did everything correctly to qualify this week at Rangiora.
Still learning his trade so will look to head back to the trials to improve his ring craft before he steps out at the races.

Darren has been out an about inspecting potential purchases ahead of the upcoming yearling sales. All going well, we look forward to adding some new stock to the stable.

We are delighted for the connections of Aroda (Art Major - Adore To Our Dreams) who will contest the Group 1 Queensland Derby tomorrow night at The Creek for team Dixon.

It gives us great satisfaction in selling a horse who is now going on to compete at group level ⭐️

🗣After a busy few weeks inspecting yearlings from the annual NZB Standardbred yearling sales we managed to secure 5 colts.

As well as these purchases we also have 7 yearlings (2 colts, 5 fillies) from Renwick Farms.

🥇 BOLD MEDLEY (JUJON) gets win number one for new owner John Mammino and trainer Grant Dixon at Albion Park this afternoon.

Purchased by Darren for $10,000 at the 2020 NZB Standardbred National Yearling Sale, ‘Lou’ only had the one start in New Zealand where he flashed home at Addington Raceway for a second placing before leaving our barn and heading to the Sunshine State.

Many thanks go out to agent Garrick Knight for his wonderful job setting up the sale, and we wish John Mammino and team Dixon all the very best - we can’t wait to watch Lou go on to hopefully win many more races ⭐️

Very pleasing run by our 3yo filly ENGAGED (Love You - Moment Of Success) at Oamaru Harness Racing Club today to pick up second place 🥈

ENGAGED was a $1,200 purchase off gavelhouse.com Standardbred, and has essentially paid herself off after todays tidy performance ⭐️
