I knew Mirabelle could move but it took putting a rug on the older pony on a cold day to get her excited enough to show off! She’s usually hanging around getting scratches instead!
Seems like such a long time ago that Marmaduke was a tiny foal - he is now a rising three year old!
I’ve again had a season with no breeding success, so any foals will still be a while away.
I don’t ever want to “breed for breedings sake”, meaning I want to stick to my plan of purebred Section Ds, using what amazing stallions I have available to me & hopefully this special, beautiful colt Marmaduke (Eryri Barcud Coch).
I will approach this coming season with renewed energy and try and finally achieve success!
Makes me all the more grateful for the cobs I have bred and how amazing Ardachy Mary was with her exceptional fertility to frozen.
Eryri Diemwnt Disglair is going very well under saddle. This welsh cob has been beautifully started by Steve Houston and will continue his training under the expert skill of Kate Cavanagh.
Bandit is by Carregcoch Bleddyn (AI UK) an Elite Graded stallion with the Sports Pony Studbook Society. Carregcoch Bleddyn is the sire of the best performing European Show Jumping pony of all time, Machno Carwyn.
Bandit is out of Ardachy Mary a lovely Section D with beautiful old breeding and this mare has consistently produced welsh cobs of quality for Eryri Welsh Cobs.
Bandit will require an experienced rider, as he is still only in the first month or so of his ridden job.
Bandit is approximately 15hh and is 4 years old and is gelded.
Expressions of interest invited for this superb welsh cob. He has super star written all over him - his name means bright/dazzling diamond in welsh!
PM my page or Emily Ensor for details.

Times like these, it’s just so lovely to watch a mumma and her baby groom each other. I’ve noticed when there’s plentiful feed, the amount of time all my ponies spend grooming seems to increase hugely.
This time of the year, they generally all get free access to the old summer pasture, and really do well on it.
I’ve spent a bit of time re-grassing areas into horse friendly species - Timothy, prairie grass, plantain, chicory, brome, fescue, cocksfoot and there are plentiful ‘herb’ types mixed in too. They’re loving the thistles in particular at the moment.
I noticed Marmaduke nibbling on the hedge the other day - which probably be thought of as a weedy hedge here in NZ, gorse, blackberry, flowering plums, roses, NZ natives but the ponies definitely keep it trimmed to some extent.
I’m grateful to have time to spend outside watching my group of cobs, escaping from the world as it deals with the ongoing crisis at the moment.
Where ever you are in the world, stay safe & enjoy the little video of Mary and Marmaduke 🐴💛💓🧡🐴
So cute!!! Trigger is so gentle with Marmaduke
A very special Australian delivery has touched down in Auckland this morning. Hillswood Crackling Rose is now officially on NZ soil!
This beautiful cob filly was bred by Linda and John Hills of Hillswood Welsh Cobs and is to become part of the cob family at Eryri Welsh Cobs.
I can’t thank Linda and John enough for everything they have done to make purchasing her as easy as possible.
Apparently she was unfazed by the plane ride and has so far travelled beautifully! Cannot wait to see her in a few days 😍
Trigger having some breakfast in his deluxe suite this morning .... nothing like hearing a happy pony munching on food!
Eryri Mab Euraid (Trigger) back in summer - just on 2 years old.
