Hillswood Crackling Rose impAus (Danaway Bags impUK x Burrowa Athena SOD Abergavenny Achilles impUK) and Eryri Barcud Coch (Gwynfaes Culhwch AIUK x Ardachy Mary SOD Llanina Morning Blaze impUK) have certainly produced an exciting filly - Eryri Sweet Brier. The wait was worth it and it’s exciting seeing my long awaited plans come to fruition. Lucky I am patient!

After a very long wait, Eryri Welsh Cobs welcomed Hillswood Crackling Rose’s first foal by Eryri Barcud Coch. A beautiful filly who is almost Mirabelle’s doppelgänger with her markings! Such relief to have her here safely and also that Rose is being such a natural mother who trusts me ♥️ Rose was imported from Australia as a weanling and she is just the most lovely mare, inside and out. A Danaway Bags (Danaway Tango) daughter she is another exciting addition to our bloodlines here.

This is like the human equivalent of a good gossip over a cuppa. Three old ladies having a meet up. Left to right- Ardachy Mary, purebred Sect D the mare that started it all, almost 27 years old. Coniston Firebird, a riding pony cross my first ever foal I bred, 22 years old and Burrowa Annwyn, my 20 year old Sect D broodmare who has now produced two stunning fillies by Marmaduke, Mary’s last frozen bred c**t!

Happy New Year! 2024 seems to have gone by in a flash. Some beautiful foals have arrived this season by Marmaduke - the future is looking bright for this young stallion and he is showing his worth. Thank you to everyone who continues to support Eryri Welsh Cobs - either by using Marmaduke or just being a part of the future plans- a small stud with not so tiny goals!

Ten years ago today I welcomed my first frozen bred foal - Eryri Mab Euraid by Gwynfaes Culhwch (UK). Trigger was just so incredible from the moment he arrived. As a foal he was an old soul - just so easy. One of the best days of my horse ownership was finally riding him after an excellent start at Steve Houston Horsemanship. Trigger continues to be my favourite (don’t tell the others!) but has had far too much time off lately due to adult life happening. With his dam Ardachy Mary he even featured in one of Debbie Dunbar’s original oils - which now hangs proudly in my house. The golden boy has been the start of the journey breeding my favourite breed - one that isn’t anywhere near finished, but as always, good things take time!

My heart is always in my mouth the first time the foalies get put out in the big paddock, especially with the long grass about at the moment. Mayflower made use of the bigger space and went like a rocket!! Poor mumma Annie was very anxious initially! Loving the cross of Burrowa Annwyn (Imp Aus) x Eryri Barcud Coch (AI UK), it definitely seems to click!

Annie and Marmaduke have done it again!
Meet Mirabelle’s full sister, an exquisite bay filly who is already is doing zoomies and enjoying the beautiful spring weather!
She has lots of strengthening and unfurling to do but I love her! Very much like her sister ♥️ even though she is a very different colour!

Marmaduke turned 5 years old today - I truly do not know where the time has gone. He was a beautiful foal and in the last 6 months is seriously showing what he is going to mature into. I was never going to keep a stallion, but he is just the kindest, sweetest boy with beauty, exceptional movement and structure. He has been started under saddle but has never been shown in hand , which is probably a shame but I don’t need ribbons to tell me what I have in my paddock. Everyday it’s a pleasure to be around him ♥️ Happy Birthday Marmie!
