Whakatāne Adopt-a-Dog

Whakatāne Adopt-a-Dog Providing Animal Services to the Whakatāne District. We often have dogs of all shapes and sizes available for adoption.

We provide Animal Services to the Whakatane District region. This page will showcase dogs that are available for adoption and will act as a forum to answer any questions you may have. We also offer Canine Education Programmes for various community groups, conduct school visits and offer an “Adults at Risk” programme. We often have dogs come into our pound that are either surrendered or are unclaim

ed strays. We carry out temperament testing of all unwanted dogs and if deemed suitable, they are offered for adoption. We work hard to ensure that the dogs looking for homes are matched with suitable families, ensuring that they don’t end up back with us! If you are interested in adopting a dog, or would like us to have a chat with us about potentially adopting one, please contact the Animal Control Team on 07 306 0500.

As the year is coming to an end, Many of us will travel to visit family or open our homes to loved ones over the Christmas season, this may mean an increase in other pets entering our beautiful region.

A timely reminder that even the most chilled-out dog can be unsettled by seasonal space invaders, so remain cautious and aware of your surroundings when enjoying what Whakatane has to offer!! ☀️

Our staff are taking a well deserved break. We will be closed from the 24th Dec until the 6th Jan 2024, Any dogs impounded over this time will be released to owners by appointment only.

Please ring 07 3060500 to speak with our call centre 📞

We thank you for your support over the last year and hope you all enjoy this Festive Season 🐾🎅🐶🎄

Great re-union story and just goes to show how important a micro chip is. If you would like your dog chipped it costs $17.50. Give us a ring on 07 3060500 to make an appointment.

De-Anna fought for years to find her dog and had almost given up hope when the call finally came. But after their emotional reunion comes the task of nursing her mate back to health.
