HOY finished on a good note for Isla and Spring Fever, not as high up as we would have liked but under the circumstances we were just so so pleased he even managed to jump the first jump let alone get a call back.
Jack had jumped in 2 classes during the week and crashed through the first jump both times, ending with Isla retiring him, plus same thing in the showjumping Equitation class. We had no idea what was wrong, thought it was the tendon he injured while fence chasing mares π‘ hurting, but i wasnt sure nor was Islas mum Erin who is a vet. We had him vetted by the show vets anyway and given the all cleae. We were torn as to start him in title class.
While giving him a walk out and graze the morning of title class he flat refused to go back to his stable. It then hit me out of the blue. The normally filthy manure stained pony whos stable covers are usually covered in stains same as his knees and white patches, was clean as clean and had been all week. We hadnt needed to wash him at all he had been pristine and sparkling.....
Jack had got down and rolled as soon as we put him in the stable when we arrived and got semi cast against the wall. The stables were very small compared to at home...
Jack had not lay down since, Jack was sleep deprived π€π€π€.
His sleeping next to the ringside we just took as him being his normal laid back self.
Yes he jumped the practice jumps... Not because he wanted to but because i was standing there and he would never stop with me there.
Another light bulb moment, the last HOY we went to he was in same box, he refused outright to even go in the ring in both the showhunter title and the working hunter title and he just loves working hunter jumps.
So i hatched a plan and we did enter in the title class. My plan was to change his warm up totally with the focus being in keeping him awake.
So 2 riders before his turn Jack was popped into the empty games area and galloped to the end and ba
Nothing like killing two birds with one stone, cooling off your old legs and a bit of a feed between classes

Why ? Why when we go to all the trouble and expense of making nice feeds do they prefer to eat like pigs π€·π€·π·π·π·ππ note.. he is usually fed in a 1/2 44 gallon drum and does the same and if hung on fence he roots it out with his snout... part Kunekune i think π
