This was privately sent to us, while we have not confirmed for ourselves- it does not surprise us. There is dog fighting happening in the Manawatu without a doubt - most are amateur back yard set ups but there are also very complex setups within our region.
The ppl involved come from various walks of life with different employment, different backgrounds, various socio-economic brackets and who are different ages, genders and appearances ... And the hardest truth?
Many of the people involved are those youβd never expect β individuals who may be involved with organising, breeding, training, hosting, attending, or even betting.
All we can do is ask ppl to:
β οΈ Be careful, and listen to your gut (better to be safe than sorry).
π Be vigilant and report anything suspicious or out of place in your area.
πΎ Microchip your pets and register that microchip (please for the love of God, register the chip!).
π³ Be aware of multiple dogs in bushland, outskirts of town, rural properties etc.
π« Donβt leave your dogs unattended at shops, in the back of cars, etc.
π‘ Bring pets inside if you go out so theyβre not left alone in your yard and have them sleep inside at night.
π Put locks on your gates
π’ And most important β If you see something, SAY SOMETHING!! π¨πΆ
Our pets rely on us to keep them safe - dogfighting is horrendous and violent and beyond inhumane.
And just so we are clear - Ppl who are involved in dog fighting belong in the same subhuman groups of rap!sts, pedoph!les, animal and child abusers/murderers.
