Pony play this week out in the big arena, widening the riders horizons and steering through the poles. Everyone helping each other to take up and adjust their reins, and asking the ponies for go stop and turn. Lots of love to go around.

Something to make with all the lemons on the ground

Perfect lemon butter/curd . I have always made it on the stovetop and always had to add cornflour to thicken and gave up trying, but after seeing a member make it in the slow cooker I had to try it and no cornflour ..and knew I saved the jam jars for something lol
6 jars of lovely lemon butter 💛

Ingredients
~ This ingredients List is Doubled ~ :

8 Eggs (whisked)

1 1/2 Cups of White Sugar

3-4 Teaspoons Finely grated Lemon Rind

1 Cup of Lemon Juice ( = about 7-8 lemons)

250g Butter

Directions
Grate the lemon Rind first then cut and juice the lemons ( make sure there are no pips! ).

Crack 8 eggs into a bowl and whisk them.

Pour ALL ingredients into the slow cooker

Turn on High and constantly keep stirring until the Butter has completely melted.

Once melted, turn slow cooker onto Low with a Tea Towel under the lid and leave for 1 1/2 - 2 hours or until fairly thick.

Stir every 20 minutes or so

Once Lemon Butter is done, take the jars out of the oven and pour it in and put on the lid.

Coco Pops did her 1st trek down the lane with Leanne aboard and behaved beautifully yay for the big girl baby horse coming along in leaps and bounds.

I made an executive decision to gift the free riding lesson from fun day draw to Olivia a very deserving kid who always gives her all to the pony play program, helping others enjoy their experience and dedicated to the ponies care and enjoyment to boot. I loved getting this time one on one with you kid you're super special.

Home from Hamilton via hastings Thursday just in time to get some well earned saddle time with these 2 crazy cats Lynda spent most of the session hooning around at canter some of which is on video but sadly no pics sorry, i absolutely loved my time with Rosie who i worked in a rope halter for the 1st time and she was very respectful and really enjoyed the no pressure approach.
Jeremy with his trustee friend BJ also did lots off hooning to blow away the exam study stresses and had some snuggle time with Olaf.

Thurs evening was a fun session filled with dressage practice and a little bit of hooning in the games arena. Olaf is growing well on the bottle.

The saying, it takes a village well here it is some of the village, Lynda playing surrogate today keeping him alive while i was away at Dillions funeral getting 150mls of bottle colostrum into him. Then some of our pony play kids parents and helpers staying after lessons to help me try and convince Tiny to accept her new born cria and give him a drink, alas her milk is still not in and he was quite weak and finding it difficult to latch onto her udder but we did get some of mums milk into him and then 50mls from a bottle.
And im pleased to say at 9.30pm I managed to get 150mls into via bottle.

Pony play this afternoon filled with enthusiasm a fantastic group, parents and grandparents helping on the ground leading kids helping kids lead other kids and even helping teach the next skill in the toolbox today everyone had a go at mastering taking up their reins, and we installed the go stop request sequences.
Building sound foundations for dynamic resilient future riders. I only snapped a few pics of some riders so if anyone has more plz send them through.

Today was definitely a roller-coaster ride.
I started my day in Palmerston north with a fitting farewell to Baldeep Dillon who started his equestrian journey with me at Actifun 15 ish years ago when we were based in Levin a fun and dedicated student who strived for excellence in every avenue of his life after purchasing 2 clyde cross youngsters from me a bay filly ( Bodicia) broken in and green to develop his riding and training skills and (Sonari) his practice black stallion.
Dillion as we called him developed into an aspiring dressage rider and purchased his ultimate fantasy stallions in the fressian breed excelling in his chosen sport a star a year over an 8 year period, his life cut short 1 level before Olympic level which was his goal to compete for new Zealand at the Olympics 1 day.
He never forgot his humble beginnings as part of our Actifun whanau keeping me in the loop of his achievements regularly.
I was extemely proud to catch up with him and Vicki his long standing trusty side kick best friend and groom, meet his latest stallion and watch his 2024 Horse of the year performances.
I'm devastated to have to Farwell this magnificent man cut down far too soon.
RIP Dillon I hope to get to inspire more men like you. Your friend and original coach Moira.

With Leanne's encouragement and help the tack room had a well overdue clean out so here's to a more organized and user friendly layout.
Also a couple of baking containers to be claimed and some lost property cloths to claim on your next visit plz folks.
