Fancy Felines Cat Grooming
We have the only specialist Cat Groomer in Whangarei, that not only, washes and blow dries your cat, but specialises in Lion Cut shaves and de-matting grooms. She also does an overall check while grooming and lets you know of any issues that may be causing your cat discomfort. Here are two "Lion Cuts", aptly named to mimic the king of the plains - shaved belly and back, leaving the hair long on the head, feet and tail.

=Looking for a new forever home=
Toby is a lovely old boy, about 13 years old. Unfortunately, circumstances for his elderly Dad means he needs to find a new forever home. He is a wonderful companion for an elderly person seeking company. He is good around young children if the grandkids come to visit. But he would be best suited to an elderly person. Being 13 years old he will most likely not have 10 years left in him. But he is in perfect health. A good old tabby. How Could Purrs Help Humans Heal?
For centuries, healers have used the power of sound in their work. It is believed that certain frequencies or tones of sound can have varying healing effects on the body. Here are some of the ways that purrs might help humans with health concerns:

Purring releases endorphins in cats, and it can do the same thing in humans, too. Lowered stress hormones are helpful for healing, lowering blood pressure, and helping people cope with illness, too.
Cat purring has been shown to fall between 25 and 140 Hz. The same frequency has been shown to aid in the healing of broken bones, joint and tendon repair, and wound healing. Cats are well-known for their ability to heal quickly from their own broken bones, and the incidences of joint problems and bone cancer in cats are low. It's possible that cat purrs can help humans heal faster, too.
Clinical observations of cats that are suffering from upper respiratory conditions resulting in dyspnea, or trouble breathing, indicate that purring helps the cat breathe more easily. In fact, respiratory distress related to heart disease isn't nearly as common in cats as it is in dogs and humans. A person with respiratory problems might also be able to breathe easier if a purring cat is nearby.
There are many stories of people with migraines whose headaches are eased or extinguished when they lie with their heads close to purring cats.

Missing - 10.15am 30th December 2021.

Please help us locate Ivey. She lives in Jessie St, Parahaki. She's over 7 months old now and is no longer wearing a pink collar.

Ivey jumped out of her cardboard box just as we were entering the cattery. She was very quick and bolted. The owners and ourselves have looked extensively around the property. She's either good at hiding or she's trying to make her way home. Please keep an eye out for her and call us on 021463616 if you believe you may have sighted her.

Christmas and New Year's bookings 🎄

We are fully booked from the 20 December to the 10th January. We also have a long waitlist for vacancy.

All bookings must adhere to their specific drop off and pickup time during our opening hours to avoid long wait times and avoid crowding of people.

All exchanges will be done outside the Cattery in the sunlight as an added safety measure and to reduce the stress and impact on cats in our care.

It's with great sadness that we at the Deloraine Cattery have to say goodbye to our very special friend Blackie.
She along with her 3 sisters 1st came to stay with us in 2016.
Their owner was unable to care for them any longer so Blackie, Helmet, Chocy and Carra became perminant residences at the Cattery's community area.
Blackie undertook the roll of cat maitridee in the community room greeting guests and their owners alike. Its with a massive lump in my throat and tears streaming down my face that I realise just how much you meant to us all.
Rest in peace beautiful Blackie.
