Breeders of Charolais Cattle

Our mob of 3yr olds with calves and yearling heifers. 60mls of rain has refreshed the grass, was getting quite dry.
My favourite calf (PV Vicksburg-5) this year in this group Homozgous Polled carries the Q double muscle gene and is a Silverstream Padra grandson, out of a Silverstream Outlook daughter who’s dam line goes back to Forestview Ancestor.

We recently killed this cows last year heifer at 18 months old. She was 492kg live weight and 249kg carcass -50.6% kill out.
But most of the other cattle (hereford x) in her group were around a year older than her.
The group average 261.8kg.
This just goes to show how much impact charolais has and it’s going to make a big difference on our farm being able to get cattle off a year earlier than we are currently.
We will have 50-60 charolais x hereford/friesian due next autumn/spring.

Today we went and supported the local group day for calf club. Awesome to see our new sponsored sign out on display. The charolais are definitely increasing in popularity. Awesome to see them out and about at these shows. Overall beef type calf was taken out by a friesian x charolais calf out of a ring of at least 15 and different breeds including Speckle Park, Red Devon, Hereford and Angus.

Only my second ever heifer since I started breeding.

Phoenix Valley Unstoppable deserves his own post. Everyday he just looks more outstanding! 🤩🤩 His half brother (Same dam) is currently doing 1.2kg/day at 22 days old and will be close to doubling his birth weight by 1 month old.
