We have a scrap man living on the farm called Kirk…he’s a really skilled man with a lovely nature. He is making a scrap run to Auckland on this Friday if anyone local has scrap that they wish to get rid of…he will pay for good quality heavy scrap. Unfortunately appliances are worth nothing at the end of their scrap life. Please pm me if you have any thing to pick up.
No cars thanks.😂🤣

Our Story

Caretaker Farm is the home of Audrey and Dorothy Sharp and their family. "The Farm was called Caretaker Farm because both Mum and I believe that the land is here for us to "caretake" or take care of and that as our time on its surface is very short we have a big responsibility to look after it well while we are here." Audrey had a 30 year vision of how the property was to be developed and is 25 years into the project using organic and natural agriculture methods, Permaculture design, creating a forest and a peaceful healing place to stay and learn. A lack of money has halted this vision for now but it has not disappeared as an ultimate aim for the space in the future.

Recently the farm is providing backpacker and cabin accommodation allowing others to enjoy the natural space. As all the buildings are recycled animal louses and the land itself has been used for farming for over 100 years nothing is new or flash-rather it is a genuine experience of an alternative way of basic simple living in a natural forest/plant setting. There are insects, an abundance of plants, farm ducks, a compost toilet and a peaceful environment where locks are not necessary.

The farm also produces healing plants which are then made into herbal healing balms under the label Green Wicca-there are balms to stop itching from bites, stings, plant allergies, eczema; one for bone pain relief; one for the lips and skin to stop cracking and pain and; an anti-inflammation balm.
