We have had a few tabby cats go wandering from their loving homes the last week, two in particular are well known to us and we really hope they come home safe and well soon! If you come across any unknown kitties, please feel free to bring them down to the clinic to be scanned or if you think you have any info please let us know so we can try find these sweet boys and bring them home ❤️

Sunday - and Ebony ‘s beloved cat 🐈‍⬛ Pedro is still MISSING (Tutaipatu Road, Wetlands end, Pegasus).
PLEASE PLEASE check your gardens, hedges, garages, sheds, houses etc for him. He is a bit of a wanderer and it’s possible he’s got trapped somewhere. Are you aware of your neighbours (in this area) away on holiday, and an empty house, could you check their properties / gardens / sheds too? I believe owners are out scouring the area at all hours of the day, as have our wonderful caring Pegasus community. Got to get some closure for this wee cat and its family who are very worried.

Happy one year anniversary to Sheryl at Pet Rehabilitation Therapy!

We were so stoked when Sheryl decided to sub lease a space with us and put her Hydrotherapy and Rehabilitation clinic at the back of our clinic. Not only has it been so encouraging and exciting to go on this new business journey together, its been awesome to watch her business grow and see the miracles she achieves in that room!

I am so grateful to Sheryl and all she has done for my beautiful old boy Baxter. Baxter used to chew his wrists and after his first session with Sheryl 18months ago, I haven't seen him do it since! Sheryl helped Baxter again when he had Geriatric Vestibular Disease which caused him to all of a sudden lose his balance, have a significant head tilt and struggle to walk. I have treated many patients with this condition before and we expect it to take 4-6 weeks to see improvement. With Sheryls help, Baxter was almost normal after 7-10 days, every session he improved significantly and I was so grateful for Sheryls help.

If you haven't had the privilege of meeting Sheryl yet, she is such a calm, empathetic and beautiful person and she is so passionate about her patients and trying to ensure the best outcome. Congratulations Sheryl! ❤️

This week marks the one year anniversary of Pegasus Bay Vets opening. To continue our theme of thanking the people that have made a significant contribution to helping us start our business we have to acknowledge that we wouldn't have a clinic without our wonderful clients!

We have been truly overwhelmed and humbled by the support we have received from our wonderful clients and the community. Everyone who has come through our doors has shown us so much kindness and respect. We have got to meet so many amazing people and really appreciate and love the relationships that have developed. We truly value your trust in us and feel so honored that you have chosen us to help care for your pets. We are so happy we chose to open our clinic in Pegasus. Thank you so much and we are so excited to see what the next year brings ☺️

Just a few of the gorgeous animals we have been lucky enough to get to know. A couple are sadly no longer with us but they were incredibly special and still very much in our thoughts x

This week marks the one year anniversary of Pegasus Bay Vets opening. To continue our theme of thanking the people that have made a significant contribution to helping us start our business we would like to thank our absolutely wonderful team of nurses.

Renee, Anna and Sophie were our original 3 nurses to start with us and we can not thank them enough for all they did to support us in those early days. Pegasus Bay Vets grew so much faster than we anticipated but these 3 worked so hard and always with a smile to ensure that the days ran smoothly and our clients and their pets were receiving the best service. By November we were ready for another nurse and we were so lucky to have Marie join our team and with her 30 years of experience, beautiful nature and love for the job, she has been the perfect addition.

When we first moved to Christchurch 10 years ago, I (Sam) met Sophie, Anna, Marie and Renee and a lifelong friendship blossomed with all of them. It means so much to me to have these ladies by my side supporting us and embracing our dream. They have 100% embraced our vision of a vet clinic where we strive to give every client a personal experience, where they feel heard and their pets cared for. The culture and atmosphere is always full of love, support and a bit of banter! which is so important. It is a pleasure to come to work and see these ladies everyday. Thank you guys so much for your understanding, your kindness, your hard work and your friendship xx ❤️

We also have a very new member of our team who has recently joined us -Melissa. Melissa has been spending time with us in the clinic doing practical work as she is due to graduate as a vet nurse at the end of this year. She has shown to be a natural at nursing, extremely hardworking and fits in with the team so well, we had to snap her up! Welcome to the team Melissa!

Next week marks the one year anniversary of Pegasus Bay Vets opening. To continue our theme of thanking the people that have made a significant contribution to helping us start our business we would like to thank Rangiora Vet Centre and the Emergency Vet Hospital.

It isn't often that you thank a competing business for helping to support your new business venture but RVC have been a great support to us as we started out.
We identified early in the planning process that one of us required external income to pay the mortgage and fund the household during the early, uncertain days of the new business opening. Despite us setting out to establish a business in competition, Rangiora Vet Centre employed Ben in their Emergency Vet Hospital, a great service that provides 24hr, 7 day a week emergency care to companion animals in Rangiora.
RVC continue to be a referral option for CT scans, complex surgeries that require specialised care, and patients that require intensive overnight care. The Emergency Vet Hospital provide our backup after-hours care for those nights we need a break and we are very grateful for this option.
There have been several times when we have desperately needed a specialised drug, or piece of equipment and RVC have always helped us out.
Thank you to the RVC team for their support over the last year.

Next week marks the one year anniversary of Pegasus Bay Vets opening. To continue our theme of thanking the people that have made a significant contribution to helping us start our business we would like to thank Tom Johnson at Netwizard design and Sarah Perrins Photography.

A great website is such an important aspect of promoting your business and we are very lucky to have my (Sam's) brother Tom build and continue to update our business website for us. Tom engaged his team to design our logo and branding, to build our website and to continue to host and update it as required. I have been very lucky to have Tom as my older brother. He has always believed in me and supported my dream of becoming a vet, encouraging us to open our own clinic. Tom moved to Australia when I was 14 and every summer holiday he flew me to Australia to spend time with him and did what he could to support me through University. Thank you very much Tom for supporting me, believing in me, and giving me so many great adventures and memories.

Also a big mention to Sarah Perrins photography for the beautiful photos of our family that feature so nicely on the website. We are so pleased with the job you did and we get so many comments about how our website feels so warm and family orientated because of your work.

Next week marks the one year anniversary of Pegasus Bay Vets opening. To continue our theme of thanking the people that have made a significant contribution to helping us start our business we would like to thank David Marshall.

David Marshall is one of the legends of the Christchurch veterinary community. Alongside Murray Pringle he established the Marshall and Pringle veterinary clinics in Kaiapoi and Christchurch. I (Sam) first met Dave when I was employed into Marshall and Pringle Linwood. At this stage Dave had already sold the practice but continued working in the business as an associate. The veterinary industry can be challenging and when I found myself questioning my career, and questioning my future, Dave was a huge source of support. After I returned to work after Leah was born, he left the clinic he had established, and agreed to job share a full-time role at Rangiora West with me. His support, mentorship, good humour and relaxed nature gave me a much needed reset and gave me the confidence to thrive in a sole charge position with senior management responsibilities.
Thankyou Dave for giving me such a positive veterinary career experience. Your support is one of the main reasons I developed the confidence to consider going into our own practice and I will always be grateful to you for this. Both Ben and I see you and Faye more like family than as colleagues and we are so grateful to have you in our lives.

Next week marks the one year anniversary of Pegasus Bay Vets opening. To continue our theme of thanking the people that have made a huge contribution to helping us start our business we would like to thank Bill and Gaye Parlane.

Bill and Gaye are our neighbours here in Pegasus. We had not known Bill and Gaye very long before we mentioned in passing that we were looking at establishing a vet practice in Pegasus. Bill immediately offered to project manage the internal fit out of the clinic through his job at OCS. To say that Bill has gone over and above is a massive understatement. We walked into one big empty room with no ceilings, no internal walls, no ventilation and Bill and his team transformed it into the beautiful clinic we are so proud of today. Bill was source of advice through consenting processes, he arranged builders, electricians, ventilation experts, plumbers, gib-stoppers and painters. He had to pull plasterboard from thin air and source multiple other building supplies in the midst of shortages due to COVID lockdowns. I'm not sure Bill realised how involved Ben wanted to be during the whole fitout process but he very patiently and expertly guided us through what could have been an extremely stressful and frustrating process.
Thank you Bill for volunteering to help us when you didn't really benefit from taking us on.
Thank you for the organisation and work you put in behind the scenes to take a huge amount of stress off our shoulders.
You and your team have done such a great job of the clinic and we receive so many compliments about how the clinic looks.

Next week marks the one year anniversary of Pegasus Bay Vets opening. We have had a great year and are so pleased and grateful for all the amazing support we have received from the local community. We do have a number of people we would like to thank specifically starting with my (Ben's) parents, John and Lynley.

Two years ago mum and dad were settled into a lovely house they had built overlooking Blueskin Bay at Doctors Point. To support our dream of starting Pegasus Bay Vets they sold up and shifted their life to Pegasus. Dad spent weeks with me during the fitout of the practice helping to install cabinets and workspaces, putting equipment together, installing cages, and shifting a huge amount of stock from our garage into the clinic. Mum takes care of our 3 year old Lucy every wednesday, has us for tea regularly, and she picks up our girls to go swimming or to bake something at home. Mum and dad look after our girls at the drop of a hat when an emergency comes into the clinic, they take our girls on the holidays that we can't currently get away for, and they look after us when things are getting too much.
We could not have managed the planning, build, and running of the clinic for the last year without their help and support, and to know that when we can not be with our girls, they are with 2 people who love them so dearly means the world to us.
Thank you so much mum and dad. We all love you very much and we very much appreciate all you have done and continue to do for us ❤️
