Friday Family Feels
This week we have had MoMo and Stormy.
While they like to have separate bedrooms they are quite similar.
Both have taken to cattery life and enjoy being waited on.

We have Sweet pea on the catwalk. Sweet pea is a ginger female. Did you know Approximately 80% of ginger cats are male.
She is one special kitty 🤩

Happy Monday. Our special guest is Marley he is a Maine C**n.
Did you know:
The Maine C**n is waterproof! It has a waterproof topcoat that protects them against wet and bleak climates.
They are polydactyl cats which means that they have more toes than average cats. This also means that their paws are snowshoe-like, which also helps them navigate extreme snowy conditions.

🧑‍⚕️The Vet team at Rangiora Vet Centre has told us that cats are best desexed at 5 ½ - 6 months of age. This is a day trip for them with a morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up. Female cats that are currently in season or have an early pregnancy can also be speyed. It is definitely recommended as part of responsible cat ownership! 👍

If you have any questions regarding desexing your cat, contact your vet as soon as possible. 📞

🙀Young female cats can have a first season as young as four months old and are able to get pregnant at this very early age.

This “on-heat” 🔥 behaviour will last for an average of seven days and will be repeated every 7-21 days 🗓 if no mating takes place. These seasons will occur right through the breeding season until the autumn, if she is not speyed (de-sexed).

If you have a new addition to your family, we encourage you to contact your vet to discuss when the right time is to have them desexed. 📞

As the days start to lengthen towards spring-time, un-speyed female cats respond by starting to come into season. This means they are attractive to tom cats and are able to become pregnant.

Signs to watch for:
🐈‍⬛ Being very vocal
🐈‍⬛ Flicking their tails in the air and pushing their bottoms upwards while playing or being stroked.
🐈‍⬛ You may see or hear other cats around the property when your cat is in season, but this is not always the case – so please be vigilant.

❓Think your cat might be in season? Make sure to keep them safely inside and contact your vet to discuss when the right time is to have them desexed. 📞
