Our final top moment for 2024 and it isn’t for the reasons you may think. While we are Gerry obsessed here, we had to do one post to clarify just a couple of things that involve our main guy.
Gerry is NOT dead.
It is not a post we thought we would have to make but it has been our most asked question in the past 12 months!
He may be getting older, but this powerhouse is still knocking out his collection targets, maintaining his semen quality and still providing farmers with outstanding progeny. Gerry isn’t just surviving; he is thriving and just shy of producing his 300,000th straw!
Now that rumour has been laid to rest. We can countdown Gerry’s top moments for 2024:
- First time playing in snow, wasn’t too impressed after the second day
- Managed to dig holes faster than Matt could fill in
- Had a professional photoshoot
- Made best friends with a mallard, refused to be photographed with it
- Was not the rolled roast the team enjoyed too much
For 2025 we encourage you all to not write Gerry off just yet and get in touch with us directly if your supplier isn’t giving you a viable option. After all, legends like Gerry don’t die – they just keep raising the bar.

It has been a while since we submitted bulls for the B+LNZ Genetics Dairy Beef Progeny Test. We were proud to have Kakahu Gerardo and Kakahu Gerrycan both accepted into Cohort 10.
Gerardo is a Gerry son while Gerrycan has a dam sired by Gerry. We are continually working with Kakahu Angus to provide the dairy industry with the best Gerry progeny and we can't wait to see their results next year.

Our embryo team deserve a round of applause for the work they have put in this season 👏
Fernando, Charlotte and Angus have spent a lot of time on the road not just flushing and implanting but ensuring that our clients are getting the best advice to yield great responses and hold rates.
Embryos are a genetic lottery when it comes to results so we can't wait for more information about the success of this years programmes to roll in
