It’s always shocking to see the volume of cheap and nasty unregulated uvb basking lamps on the market. Please only source trusted brands for your reptiles - brands who have tested and produce quality stable uvb output.

Recently we partnered with the West Coast Wildlife Centre to upgrade their nocturnal house lighting. The purpose to increase the volume of visible light during the daylight cycle, and offer a more natural dawn and dusk through gradual dimming. We used Arcadia LumenIZE LED bars to enable a bright flood of light which will also assist with better plant growth. LumenIZE has the benefit of being able to set a fully automated natural light cycle through dimming capabilities and timer settings. The before and after photos speak for themselves! We are sure the Kiwi who call this home will enjoy their new dawn and dusk.

Impressive plant growth under Arcadia LumenIZE products!

Arcadia T5 UVB reptile lamp tubes are made in Germany by the worlds experts to ensure optimal and correct UVB output. With other brands unable to offer testing to the same degree of safety why risk your pets health? Overexposure, and exposure to dangerous UVC is deadly, so make sure you insist on quality Arcadia T5 UVB tubes when replacing or installing new reptile lighting. We have seen other reptile T5 tubes appearing in NZ which are not quality German tubes and do not offer the same level of testing. Do NOT put your pets health at risk!

You may have seen our recent update about the new addition of a group of New Zealand native geckos to Wilderness Woodend. The arrival included a number of Naultinus grayii.

Well the number has grown. Some of the females were gravid and as you can see their young are pretty special! We’re loving the chance to work with some of New Zealand’s native reptiles.

We’ve just finished a new indoor habitat to provide a home for some of our reptiles who don’t brumate around this time of year. Complete with inbuilt heating systems and thermostatic control it’s definitely going to be the place to be this season!
