Another sloth rehabbed and release back to where he belongs.
The very talented musician Dale Cinski wrote and recorded this song for us, which was inspired by the work we do at Papá Gato. We are very honored and excited about it. Check out his YouTube channel at https://youtube.com/@dsliceable
Our most recent sloth rehab was released to the wild today. She had been attacked by a dog on Solarte, she had a lot of tough moments in recovery but she pulled through and after 4 months she was very happy to be back in the jungle.
Today we got a call from someone concerned about a Silky Anteater (also known as a Pygmy Anteater). After determining that she was healthy and had no injuries she was relocated to a safe place deep in the jungle.

It truly takes a community to do the work we do. This ultrasound machine was donated a few months ago after we had a pregnant dog that got hit by a car and we had no way to determine if the babies were still alive. It has made a huge difference to have this tool available for us! Over the past two days we were able to monitor the health of the sloth baby and help guide our decision on when to intervene. On this ultrasound video you can see the baby's heart beat, this was about an hour before the baby was born! Pretty cool!!
We still have an Amazon wishlist for other tools to help us help more animals. Check it out! https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/1KLD2UNXVCNWH?ref_=wl_share
A howler monkey baby was found alone on the road, in danger of being run over or attacked by a dog. Our wildlife rehabilitator was able to go back to where she was found and locate her troop. Mom was sitting in a tree hunched over until she heard her baby cry and perked up instantly. The baby was placed high up a tree that mom could easily get to and within minutes they were reunited. 🐒🐒
**If you find a baby wild animal most times mom is nearby and it's best to leave it alone! Unless it is in immediate danger or injured please keep your distance and watch to see that mom comes back to retrieve it. Moms will not come get her baby if you stay too close to it.
